Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Will it live up to the original?
Being a big fan of the original I was hardly excited to hear that they were doing a remake. First of all remakes of classics (even horror classics) usually suck. And with the dearth of quality horror movies among the plethora of bad ones I deffinitely didn't expect the new TCM to come along and wow everyone. And the director is a video director, which isn't always bad, but his sparse resume happens to include something video thing for Janet Jackson. Not promising unless that sort of thing scares you.
Then the trailer came out (playing in fron of American Wedding here) and my friend couldn't stop talking about it. Having finally seen the trailer, I admit it does look kind of cool (mainly because of some flash bulb effect they do) but I'm still not really confident that it will even be decent. Any fans of the original out there? Seen the trailer? Thoughts? |

I haven't seen the trailer yet but I will say that the original scared me to death. I made the mistake of watching it alone and well I ahve an over active imagination so I was pretty freaked out. I hope the new one stands up to the original. I did like the remake of House on Haunted Hill so maybe another remake will surprise me.

This is the first I've heard of it. But I did just recently see House of 1000 Corpses, and that's probably as close to being a Chainsaw remake as you can get without actually getting the license.

Of course it wont. It is a good film because of its low budget feel, and real looking actors. Simply casting a crew of talentless jawlines and tits will not make it watchable. RIP.

I hated the idea until I saw the trailer. Excellent use of This Mortal Coil, R. Lee Ermey looks scary as hell, appears they slipped in a few new ideas. I'm willing to give it a shot.

the original was just pure camp....fun, but camp nonetheless... interesting to see that they are remaking this and Stepford Wives.
