Hi, I was just wondering if anyone had heard or seen the documentary on Jacques Derrida??

It basically follows him throughout some lectures and daily life. He is the father of the theory of deconstruction.....

I'm not much of a docu kinda guy. Aside from Crumb and the various films making fun of the genre, it's slim pickin's for me.

However after reading up a bit on this guy, he sounds a lot like Yoda:

(1) The law of identity: ‘Whatever is, is.’
(2) The law of contradiction: ‘Nothing can both be and not be.’
(3) The law of excluded middle: ‘Everything must either be or not be .’

Perhaps the ensuing conversation is better placed in philosophy, but I am willing to stand up and say I disagree. The world is not black and white.

Jacque Derrida is a head-wrecker.

His prose, philosophy and arguments are dense and difficult to decipher.

Basically, nothing really exists outside of a social / personal construct and negotiated contract...

Actually, it's very hard to think about, let alone describe.

It makes my brain bleed...
