Best movie of all time...
With thanks to h2g2fan for the thread idea...
Now, without setting up a poll that necessarily won't be inclusive enough, I was wondering if users would post their favourite movie. I will tabulate the results and maintain a running total below. My vote goes to CASABLANCA Mr Mephisto |

Gotta say The Godfather. Schindler's List is incredible too, though of a completely different nature.

Star Wars
the original changed the genre, changed movie-making changed marketing, changed product after-market changed everything and a great story to boot, based on classic storytelling and philosophies from centuries of development. name one geek that hasn't been influenced by this movie. |

My #1 Seven Samurai.... Everyone has taken from Kurosawa. Lucas, Spielberg & Tarantino to name a few.
My #2 Citzen Kane. Another brilliant, visionary film. Written & directed by a man ahead of his time.

In no particular order:
RULES OF THE GAME (Renior) CITIZEN KANE (Welles) AU HASARD BALTHAZAR (Bresson) M (Lang) THE WEDDING MARCH (von Stroheim) Okay, so don't I feel like the movie snob of the bunch so far (there could be some more cineastes who have yet to post). So I'll throw in one more of my favortie movies to offset the snobbishness. And that film is: THE THREE AMIGOS Why? because, "My little buttercup, has the sweetest-" "eh smile, SMILE...." |

Someones opinion of the best movie and their favorite movie may be two seperate things. You may think one movie is a great film with everything it needs, but you may enjoy watching another movie more. I do think that they can be considered 2 different topics, but it's not up for me to decide.

Shawshank Redemption is the best in my opinion.
2nd. Donnie Darko 3rd. Run Lola Run
