OK, finally tabulated the results.

Where people entered MULTIPLE votes, I picked the one I thought most appropriate. For example, in a list that includes the Godfather and Toy Story, I took that as a vote for Godfather.

I can't believe some of the movies some of you picked.

White Men Can't Jump?!
The BEST movie of all time?!!!

Some of you need to get out more often.

Sheesh...

:)

Mr Mephisto

PS - Feel free to continue voting.

Thank you. I had been waiting for someone to post accordingly.

As for the best film, I would have to vote for Hitchcock's Vertigo with the following films tied for second:
- Felini's 8 1/2
- Kurosawa's Seven Samurai
- Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove
- Dreyer's The Passion of Joan of Arc
- Coppola's The Godfather
- Ozu's Tokyo Story
- Godard's Breathless
- Welles' Citizen Kane
- Lang's Metropolis

The Usual Suspects, for me, I think.

This one is hard. I'll have to go with South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. The funniest movie I've ever seen.

the next few are: Scarface, Snatch, Saving Private Ryan, Dogma, Office Space, and Jackass: The Movie.

Now THIS is more like it.

Whilst I don't agree that Vertigo should be number one, I'm both surprised and delighted you include Tokyo Story.

Had it not been for the entirely personal and sentimental reasons I picked Casablanca, this would have been my choice.

Goodfellas is a supreme achievement. Worth inclusion here for the continuous shot where they go for dinner through the kitchen, alone.

2001 is just fabulous. A veritable masterpiece.

I'd also like to mention Unforgiven. Clint's finest hour; Gene Hackman is on top form, and, well, it's intense.

My wife would like to nominate Cinema Paradiso and Delicatessen. She'd vote herself, but we can't work out how to set up another account.

Oh, and Diva. What a treat!

What about The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover?
Right, I'll shut up.

The Shawshank Redemption
The Parent Trap (1998)
Princess Mononoke

They are my personal favourite movies.

I would say that The Shawshank Redemption is the greatest movie to exist to date and that Princess Mononoke is the greatest anime movie to exist to date.

The Parent Trap (1998) is the movie that I most enjoy watching. I have watched it more times than any other movie. I have seen it over 50 times, spread out over a few years.

I find I usually enjoy watching chick flicks or family flicks more than other movies. The reason for this is probably because action, drama, suspense movies and such are only effective the first and second time watching. After that, the buildups to the climatic endings don't work.

American Beauty
Fight Club
Shawshank Redemption
