Pokemon was really cool until it got too repetitive...the orange islands lost me :/

bundy 08-04-2003 10:20 PM

well, iīd like to recommend Blood, the last vampire ... to everyone...

i donīt think its been mentioned here yet... imo its fantastic.

3zos 08-05-2003 06:08 AM

i have always wanted to see blood, but something always seems to come up, and I am not able to.

???????????????????
whats your sig say?

UncleFluffer 08-05-2003 11:47 PM

Ooh! Jap-speak :o

Elitegibson 08-06-2003 12:08 AM

I loved InitialD, Trigun, Slayers, and Escaflowne. I used to like DragonBallZ, but that was like a starving man getting mouldy bread. Now that I've stepped up to the other anime, I wonder how anyone can like DBZ. Also, I generally give Dubs a try, except for Hentai, because there's nothing like a cute japanese girl screaming as she's raped repeatedly by tentacles, or something of that nature.

UncleFluffer 08-06-2003 12:10 AM

Tentacles, eh? As someone once said, "If a hentai doesn't have tentacles, it's hardly hentai at all"

lol

Of course you are! I was merely expressing an emotion. Don't take offense. I don't hate you, but I didn't like what you said. That's kind of an opinion.

Vyk 08-06-2003 03:55 PM

My favorite is Nausicaa. It's coming out some time this year end which makes for a happy Vyk. Miyazaki's other works like Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away are also good.

Ganguro 08-07-2003 05:39 PM

It's better to watch it with the japanese track. The english dub seemed overacted and not naturals as the OVAs.

Ganguro 08-08-2003 12:09 PM

i was under the impression that just because it is dubbed, you could just switch the audio to japanese.
The Bebop dub isnt horrific, but as a general rule.. it's almost ALWAYS better to watch it in it's intended language. Unless you cant read so fast, or the subtitles are in neon yellow with green outlines. (no shit, it happens)

BTW.. keep looking on that site.. i just bought Hellsing for 26 bucks.. heck i might even pop for evangaleon too..

Sooo cheap!

Yes, so true. Princess Mononoke is one of those rare cases that actually has an impact on the viewer. It is definately greatness incarnate. Ashitaka was one good protagonist. I was a bit shocked when he shot that arrow at the one raider but then realised how different Japanese cartoons are then North American cartoons.

I used to watch Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z but the repetativeness finally got to me. I couldn't stand to watch more episodes of just 2 fighters powering up and thinking panicky thoughts anymore. Dragon Ball Z consisted of about 10 major fights and it had like 350 episodes. Each fight would have at least 4-5 episodes where nothing really happened except they would insult each other, power up, transform, and maybe throw 3 punches and shoot a rock.

Lol...you must be reading my mind. Dragon Ball Z is the type of anime that gives anime a bad name and prevents it's exposure to North America due to it's crappiness. Limited animation and bad artwork, terrible storylines, horrible dialogue, dubbing, etc.

Does Spirited Away count? It was awesome, it's the only anima-ish thing i've seen

ZeliG 09-01-2003 02:50 PM

This is an easy answer... Berserk, that show had me cravin the next ep like it was crack.... well then it got to the end... Damn I gotta say that 801 TTS Airbats gets an honorable mention cuz it was so damn funny.
Other honorable mentions include initial D, GTO, Ranma and Slam Dunk.

I was severly dissapointed by Kenshin and Evangelion... but thats a whole other story...

Easily Cowboy Bebop. I went out and bought the entire DVD set as it came out; cost me nearly $200.00 for 6 DVD's! It was worth it though; great series.

Ghost In The Shell

Neon Genesis

Spirited Away

and a show that caught a glimpse of just the other day for the first time-
