Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life
***SOME SPOILERS BELOW!!!***
Well, We just got in from watching the second installment in the "Tomb Raider" series and I can honestly say that #2 is as good as (or as bad as) the first "Tomb Raider". I really wanted to just fall for this movie, but I just couldn't work myself up for it. Sure, it was fun to see the incredibly hot (if incredibly screwed up) Angeline Jolie in her silver wet suit with the built in nipples, but that was really the only attraction of the film. Maybe it was my inability to suspend belief when presented with yet another 'ancient culture that can do more than modern science with some rocks' movie or maybe it was that the characters were just as shallow in this movie as the first one. I don't know. But I do know that for a light, predictable, fun action movie, I prefered "Pirates of the Carribean" to "Tomb Raider".

"Pandora's box, that's the Sunday school version" wow, the scriptwriters must've been up all night thinking up that cliche. Then what the fuck was up with the wings? I mean sure, people use those in real life but it just looked so damn stupid and cheesy. But I have to admit, I've only seen the trailers which were shocking in themselves as much as the footage they showed.

i think when you used the word "shallow"
you summed it up quite nicely. Everything in that movie has been done before just mabye in a slightly different order, useles waste of time and film

Like most Paramount movies...eh... uninspiring... just a little bit above entertaining...such a shame that Viacom gets some good properties, but doesn't do anything amazing with them.

I was disappointed in this one, much more than I expected...I didn't even think I had and expectations....Guess I was wrong. Shallow does sum it up, but the Shadow Guardian effects were cool...all it needed was Bill Paxton in the middle yelling "Game over, man, game over!"

it seems to me they are making james bond movies with a female bond. they've got the exotic locales, the unbelievable action sequences, the megalomaniac bad guys, the hero(ine) who fits in wherever they go and beds a new partner in each episode. also the team of support staff back home who help out with the technical stuff. unfortunately what these movies lack is the sense of humour that bond films have. its difficult to make a connection with lara, because shes so humourless. also shes so angry, has a wierd love of guns, and does everything in the most dangerous way possible, which might be okay in a video game, but doesn't create a sympathetic character in a film where motivations need to be explained more. Jolie looks good in the part, and can handle the action, but adjust the character and lighten up a little, please!

Also the squirel suit things are wicked cool. Supposedly only a few people can do it in the world and that was probably the coolest part of the movie. |

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life... eh
Better than the first, but that's not saying much. I enjoyed the movie until the last 20 minutes. Then the pace slowed way down. Jolie was totally hot in that skin tight silver diving suit. Her best stunt was the poll vault onto the helicopter skid, very cool.

wow.... this movie sucked!
total waste of 10 bucks... the plot was awful, full of holes, and didn't make any sense. that coupled with some bad effects (the scene where they are "sliding" down ropes, the ropes arn't even moving.. I really have nothing else to say other than if you didn't go see this movie yet... DONT. have a wonderful day

$US10 for a movie? Ridiculous! I wouldn't pay more than $AU10 for a movie, and thats like $US6 or something. Most of the time I go to the el cheapo cinema and see a movie for $AU3.50. Gah.
And I did not intend to see Tomb Raider, and the responses have just confirmed my suspicions of its crapness.

It was a fun movie to watch. There were times when I couldn't help but whisper "oh please, whatever" to myself, but I left the movie feeling entertained.
The best parts usually came because I was laughing at the movie, instead of with the movie. The best though was the main bad guy. Can you say cliche? [In an evil voice] "Look at me. I am an evil bad guy, and I do evil bad guy things. We are all here on my evil bad guy plane, and Bob here has sold us out. Watch as I use my evil virus to make Bob vomit his own blood without batting an evil eyelash. Did I mention that I was evil?" I just couldn't stop laughing everytime he tried to outdo his 'evilness'. And you knew he was going to get the acid bath at the end, and he wasn't just going to die quickly. Even the main bodyguard got a quick death with the shadow beast. But, like I said, it was a fun movie, and I was happy that I went to see it. If you're willing to shut your brain off, and lower your IQ a few notches, then this is a movie that I'd recommend.
