Will Ferrell - Comic Genius

My favorite Will quotes:
Old School : Farmer: She's a beauty, got her in Mexico.
Will: Cool
Farmer: They say it can puncture the skin of a rhino from...(dart shoots in Will's neck)
Will:whoa
Farmer: YES! THATS AWESOME

SNL Neil Diamond: 1) Few know that I am fueled creatively by my massive hatred of immigrants.
2) Neil : I wrote this song after a big show at the Forum. Gary and I were drinking pretty heavily and we were driving.
Gary (John Goodman) - I can't believe you are gonna tell this story
Neil (will) - Yeah, well we were driving; and we hit a kid. Got out and sure enough he was dead. So we took off, pretty fast. 2 hours later I wrote Sweet Caroline.

Another from Old School (not Will): In the back of a cab: Your seatbelt seems to be borken, what do you recommend I do?
Cabdriver: I recommend you stop being such a faggot. You are in the backseat.

Psycho

That scene in Old School (the tranquilizer dart) is by far the funniest in the movie! I almost pee'd my pants laughing.

You really failed to address the full scope of Will. He was also very funny voicing the father on "Oblongs," but you didn't discuss his roles as Alex Trebek, President Bush, James Lipton, on and on. The "quote" you listed from Old School really doesn't have anything to do with Will being funny; it's scripted for him to act sort of dumb and then shoot himself in the neck. Not that Old School wasn't hilarious; you just picked kind of a stupid moment that was ruined by commercials before the movie was even released.

I loved the Robert Goulet bits he'd do, especially the one with Jay-Z. I think he's got a movie coming out soon-ish where he plays a normal man who was raised by Santa Claus' elves, sounds stupid and insane, right up my alley.

i agree sort of, the commercails did ruin that joke, but the best part of the scene is right before that, when the american pie dude tells the donkey to shut up. I laughed way harder at that then the dart in the neck part.

I think the funniest thing I've seen Will Ferrel do is about a year or so ago when he went on Conan O'Brian as Robert Goulet. Did anyone else see that, it was fucking priceless...he is a genius

The Neil Diamond scene on SNL is absolutly hilarious. Some of the deleted scenes on Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back with Will Ferrel are great.

feeling tingly

He's better than his material which is an incredible compliment to a performer.

His Harry Caray imitation isn't a perfect imitation of the actual man, but it's hysterical.

"For the love of god, get off the shed!" is basically a one-joke sketch, but it's hysterical.

"I need more cowbell"??? Again...hysterical.

He is a genius. Like Phil Hartman, he can play a zillion characters and make even the dullest ones hilarious! He's definately one of the very best comedic performers out there.

Probably my favorite Ferrel line from Old School is "If you tell anybody about this I'll fucking KILL YOU.
I'm just joking, everything's gonna be fine."

That and when he says, "You my boy, Blue!!!" crack me up big time.

okay... so apprently i'm the only one here who dosen't like farrel's schtick. don't like his snl characters. don't like the oblongs. only marginally like his "inside the actor's studio" bit, but he overplays it really fast. sure, he's good for a laugh or two, but can you really put him on the same level as the greats?

I think he's a really good compliment to other comedic actors. Anybody seen the SNL Spa Lifeguard skit with him and Jim Carrey?

I love that bit.

WIll is hands down one of my favorites right now. I just hope he doesn't take a bunch of bad films and ruin it for me.
