Best DVD Extra?

I recently bought Ringu on DVD and you get the option to watch just the 'cursed video'.

I thought this was one of the best ideas I've seen on a DVD. You get the disclaimer before you watch, while you are watching it you can't help but think "Theres no way this can be be real, can it?" and theres the few moments after its finished where you're not moving, just waiting for the phone to ring!

I thought it was a cool idea, it scared the shit out of my girlfriend, she wouldn't go anywhere near the phone for a week!!

Does anybody else have any input on other cool DVD extras?

And I don't just mean "It had a cool making of doc", I mean things that really got you thinking. I don't think this can be beat!

In the original release of THE LABYRINTH on DVD there was a 89 minutes making-of Documentary that stands the tests of time. Absolutely brilliant.

I guess if you would consider audio commentary an extra (the only other format I can think of that had it was laser disc) then the Spinal Tap commentary is one of the best extras around. Deciding to re-visit the movie with the guys being in character is brilliant. Great idea that adds to the whole "reality" of it all. Plus they are three very funny guys,

In the Dogma special edition dvd there are two small clips, 'how Jay thinks Kevin directs' and 'how Kevin thinks he directs' acted out with Jay and Silent Bob action figures. It's not mind boggling or world changing, but it's pretty hilarious.

The best audio commentary I've heard was in Dude, Where's My Car? Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott commentated like it should be; too many times the audio commentary is in the monotone voice of the director and boring as hell - in my opinion of course. (Worse audio commentary for me to have heard would have been Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.)

The extras from Jay and silent bob strike back are pretty good, there's over an hour and 1/2's worth of stuff from deleted scences. Now that's good watching (plus it lets you find out even more geeky stuff to tell people as they're spotting all the easy to find in jokes in the movie)

The audio commentaries on the Simpsons box sets really
make it worth paying for the old episodes I've already seen
dozens of times.

Yeah I would agree. The commentaries are enlightening on an already great show.

I think one of the coolest extra's is in the movie Snatch and you can have it play the captioning only when Brad Pitt and the other gypsies speak.

Kevin Smith movies (Clerks, Mallrats,...) always have great commentary and deleted scenes. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back had tons of deleted scenes (over 20)

Dude, where's my car is a funny movie.

Completely stupid and annoying, but it made me laugh a few times.

Besides, it has Mia Solokov and Jennifer Garner in it....

In final fantasy the spirts within, the extras are cool, the actors come off the stage, which is pretty impressive, seeing as how they are CGI. but, i thought that had lots of cool stuff.

The Wizard of OZ DVD has the complete 1939 radio special (aired right before the movie hit theatres) with most of the cast in attendance - Robert Young takes Ray Bolger's place. Excellent music from the film, funny dialogue, and one of the stars from the orginal 1904 broadway run is on for a few minutes.

Not to mention a fantastic soundtrack by Dj Shadow, but that's not an extra.

OK, don't laugh, but the Veggie Tales' Jonah movie has some of the best DVD special features I've ever seen on a DVD, kid or regular movie. There are THREE audio commentary tracks. The first two are the usual director/producer/animator stuff, but the third is Larry and Mr. Lunt in character doing their commentary. Man, it is funny as hell. They make pop culture references that the usual Junior God Squad Kids who watch the Veggies (or their parents for that matter) wouldn't get. Then there's bloopers, extended scenes, a trip to the animations studios that made the fil (I learned that they are located in a mall in Chicago) and lots of other stuff. I'm the last person who would recommend the Veggie Tales for kids (morals should be taught by parents, not CGI vegetables) but if you find yourself with a copy of it, watch it with Larry and Mr. Lunt's commentary on.

Oh yeah, and The Ring has the death tape as an easter egg. Press right once, then down twice until the cursor disappears then hit enter. Then it starts the tape, and disables the remote so you can't stop it until it's played all the way through. When you return to the menu, there's the sound of a phone ringing. VERY creepy. Even though I knew it was coming, it still made me jump.
