dolby digital and gaming systems

ok, heres the deal:

A friend of mine and I keep having a argument about dolby digital, and if its really supported in these systems. he tells me that it can't really be because the only way to get audio out of them is analog. But many of the games, as well as the system spec. say that they support dolby digital.. How is this possible with out digital audio out???

i am the above mentioned friend, and for the life of me, i cant understand why xbox/gamecube advertise Dolby Digital sound without a digital coaxial or optical output. With the high end A/V sets you can get, all thats high end is the video output, whether it be s-video or component. both come with only standard rca jacks. do the persons coming up with the specs for these systems count Dolby Pro Logic 2 among the Dolby Digital standard? if not, is there a digital coaxial/optical output that were both missing? if so, would it be so wrong for me to beat 3zos # 2 with a large stick?

They may think of Dolby Pro Logic 2 as Dolby digital, but i can't think of any games advertised as using DD. (I'm i'm wrong, please link me)

PS2 is the only system that i know that can do true DD since it has a digital output.

Burnout 2 adverts as using Dolby Digital. On top of that, Xbox itself had previously advertised as Dolby Digital capable, and as it plays back dvd's, youd find a wide plethora of dvd's with DD 5.1 available...

What it means is that the chip inside is capable of decoading a DD source. With most computer / gaming consoles, you are able to purchase an adapter that will allow you to use either Optical or Coaxial. I know for a fact thta you can get an optical conector for your Xboxm in fact I think it comes with the DVD player setup, at least it did when my friend bought it.

XBOX has a optical cable (provided by Monster Cable) that attaches to another Monster Cable video cable and it converts the audio to digital 5.1 for DVD's and some games.
