I also liked Pitch Black, even though it was rather stupid.

And I loved the atmosphere in Dark City, but the plot wasn't really all that. Actually, it sucked.

drewg, you think Dark City was that bad? I personally did not like the hero much, but the sets and watching it with the commentary on (DVD) gave the story more depth.

I don't know if some of the movies mentioned really count as a lot of them are missing the science part of science fiction. X-men and x2 for example do have some elements of science fiction but are primarily more along the lines of fantasy in the present.. But hey, close enough.. So I will get on with my picks:

The Matrix Reloaded
The Matrix
Star Wars- The Empire Strikes Back
Battlefield Earth... Just kidding...

I wouldn't have listed Star Wars, actually. They're more Fantasy than SF.

Did you know that there are two uncut versions a 3.5 hr and a 4 hour version of the uncut. The the 3.5 hr has your cut scenes while the 4 hr uncut version has storyboards add to the movie.

I simply cannot believe that no one has mentioned The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The Eighth Dimension! A classic. The very defintion of classic!
