The Matrix... I will be watching Dune sometime this week as I borrowed it from my brother. Hopefully it lives up to my expectations after reading the books and hearing good things about the movie.

I'd have to say

the Matrix
Minority Report
the original 3 Starwars movies
Dune (both versions had their good points and bad points)
Independence Day (they blow up the white house)

not a big fan of science fiction movies - i've read too much good science fiction. I can't stand explosions in space that make noise. It's the geek in me...

Probably Gattica. They made an effort to make the science feel real, good cast, good dialogue and looked great. Love a mystery/chase film!

The beginning sections of Dark City were excellent... but i felt it kinda lost its pace at the end. still, probably one of the best (and definitly one of the most original) sci-fi movies.

The Matrix was pure brilliance. Almost single handedly, it revolutionalised an industry.

Terminator - probably amongst the best movies of all time imo.

I AGREE DARK CITY HAD A VERY COOL AND ERIE BEGINING, THE THING WAS ALSO A GOOD ONE, AS WELL AS RED PLANET, AND PITCH BLACK.

you know, I started out thinking that, of course, the caveat "after Star Wars" was understood without saying it in the original subject....but then I really couldn't think of any other sci-fi movies that really moved me. So, I'm gonna have to just stick with the original trilogy, since they are in fact my favorite movies of all time...

I'm going to throw Lifeforce out there, as well as a movie called Saturn 3.

And most important of all... Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

If we're talking tv though... I'd say 'V' and Red Dwarf take the cake.
