If you like Theodore Roosevelt, or American history in general, recommendation inside
I finished The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt by Edmund Morris while on vacation last week. I heard about it on The Conan Show of all places and decided to check it out. It's the first of three volumes on the life of Theodore Roosevelt. I wouldn't exactly call it light reading, but it was well worth it IMO. I am mildly interested in history and he is someone I didn't know a whole lot about, other than general surface stuff. This first volume covers his early life up until the day he became President. It's pretty fascinating, especially because of the great detail the author was able to include. It's almost like Roosevelt, from childhood even, knew he was going to be somebody important and thus both documented his own life, and wrote thousands of letters that could later be drawn from to give details of his actions. I'll definitely be picking up the second volume soon.
If you are interested in Roosevelt, American History, or just want to learn something about the late 19th Century, it's a good read.

Thank you. I am interested in Teddy as there is a photo of him and my great grandfather together.
