Rate the Last Book you read.

I just got done rating the last couple of movies I watched and I had the desire to rate a few books I have read. After doing a search I noticed there isn't a thread for rating books (but there is one for listing them as you go).

So here I am, starting one. Mostly, because I think it'll make it a lot easier for me (and every one else) to decide what to read next.

So what was the last book you read? What type of rating would you give it out of 10? And, do you have a reason for that score? Tell us what you want about the book, but remember to use the spoiler code if you get too deep into it.

I'll go first.

The Twilight Series - 6/10. The story and plot was great, but the writing skills did not match, it felt like it was missing something. Spoiler: And the ending was a complete cop out; all that build up and no conflict to show for it.

The Complete Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - 9/10. Well written with great wit. The first four books were easy to fall into and finish; the last one, however, seems to start out in such a way that makes it hard for me to continue with.

Claire of the Moon - 8/10. Based on the movie (which I haven't seen). It's a good love story, something you could find in real life.

Your turn!

A Game of Thrones - 9/10 - I was 100% into it! Only deducts a point because apparently there are 6 more books of increasing length until the story is actually over.

The Big Short. If you have even a passing interest in why the economy started melting down in 2007, this is a very approachable book that's smart but doesn't make you learn an entire new language or new form of math to understand the issues. He explains some of the terms used by the folks responsible. It might also change your perspective on who the bad guys were (note, it's not the guys that made money off the crash or AIG). It's a 10/10 for me.

"The rise and fall of Communism" by Archie Brown(?). Not sure about the authors name.
8/10 Really good read if these subject interests you. He's very careful to separate
between the styles of those in power from Marxism as such. It's a bit scholarly,
however, a veritable tome. Told me everything I ever wanted to know (and more)
about the varios communist countries around the world. I found it quite enjoyable to
read, not too dry.

The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod: Twelfth Grade Kills 7.5/10

The 4th book in the series ended in a cliff hanger with the possible re-appearance of Vladimir’s dead father, which is where Twelfth Grade Kills begins, right when Vlad was about to eliminate his ex slayer friend.

Is Vlad the Pravus? Did Vlad really see his father in the court yard? Will he be executed by the Elysian council for being the only half vampire in existence? The questions I listed above are answered in the 5th and possibly last book in the series. The story concentrated more on Vlad’s feelings than on the fights he encountered between vampire slayers or other Elysian vampires. I will mention that this book had a high death count including several main characters, which I found to be surprising.

Side note: The Kindle edition had numerous spelling errors, which I found to be rather distracting and may end up purchasing the hard cover.
