Captain America
Any one excited for the upcoming Captain America film? Well not me...
So Chris Evans has been officially casted as the iconic Captain America. I'm not a hardcore Cap fan but I'm still very disappointed in this choice. Looks is obviously very important and so is acting. Evans has neither the looks nor the acting chops to pull off Captain America. They need a macho man super hunk to play the Cap. Someone like this http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images...ASON-LEWIS.jpg I haven't seen him on screen before but he sure as hell has the right looks, imo. Who would you cast as Captain America?

I don't know who that guy is that you linked to, but he definitely looks the part. I, too, am disappointed by the casting of Chris Evans, but I, too, am not a big Captain America fan, so what do I know? He just looks too young to me, but I feel that way about most casting decisions these days
Personally, I was hoping for Mark Valley. He's busy playing a DC comics character now though I'm 0 for 2 in casting now, since I was hoping for Alexander Skarsgård as Thor. I mean, seriously, which one do you think looks more like a Thor?

Not a fan of Chris Evans, or Captain America but Joe Johnston is a pretty good director. He's got some good films under his belt as director and some even bigger films that he worked on at ILM as an Art/effects director.
I don't know who I'd cast. I always pictured Cap as a more mature character. I know he's not very old but Chris Evans is more Johnny Storm than Steve Rogers.

Yeah, I always imagine Captain America as a seasoned veteran who's in his mid 30s. Mark Valley would've made a great Cap too but he's 10 years too old, imo. My little brother, who apparently knows more about Cap than I do, says Cap's age is around his mid-to-late 20s.
A big problem with Chris Evans being Cap is that no only will he not be able to stand on his own in his own film, but he'll be overshadowed by other actors in the Avengers movie. We have Edward Norton and Robert Downey Jr. who are both acclaimed actors playing their respective characters superbly, then we have Chris Evans who looks like he's barely out of his teens and hasn't had any serious roles (that I know of) or any acting accolades (that I know of). Captain America should not be out done by any one. And even though I've only seen Chris Hemsworth in the first 10 minutes of Star Trek, I enjoyed him tremendously. I think he'd make a good Thor. But that Alexander Skarsgård...I wouldn't mind seeing him playing Thor either.

Kelly, the guy you posted looks like the ideal guy to play Cap.
Ryan McPartlin from the tv series "Chuck" looks like a great CA candidate, as well. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images...-mcpartlin.jpg His nickname on there is "Captain Awesome". Mark Valley would be ok ten years ago, but his voice doesn't seem right for the part, somehow. I hadn't realized Chris Evans had definitively said he would take the role. Btw, how tall is he?

I am a HUGE Captain America fan and I am on the fence. I like Chris Evans. I like Captain America. But I just dont think I like them mixed together... This is the 1st place that I have seen someone mention Mark Valley and that sounds like a great casting job! Secret, I wish you were working for Marvel films. And as for him being an older actor, I'm sure they could have come up with a plot device to explain it. Maybe he fought the Nazi's for a few years before being frozen... And, Kelly, I think you hit the nail on the head. Evans is going to get buried around those guys!

More disappointing news about this movie. Hugo Weaving has been cast as the Red Skull. I liked him in all the movies I've seen him in, especially LOTR trilogy, The Matrix trilogy, and V for Vendetta, but I don't think he's right for this role either. He doesn't have that sinister-crazy-evil look one needs to pull off the Red Skull.
Now, Mads Mikkelsen would be perfect for the Red Skull. Ever since I saw him in Casino Royale, I was convinced he IS the Red Skull, much the same way Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark/Iron Man.
