Californication
I'm surprised there's no thread for this.
For those unaware, Californication is a tale about a writer, Hank Moody (played brilliantly by David Duchovny), that moves with his family from new York to Los Angeles. But that really only scratches the surface. In the pilot episode alone Hank gets dream falated by a nun in a Catholic church with the Rolling stones playing in the background, only to wake up from a hummer being performed by a woman he'd met the day before, then he goes to see the horrible movie adaptation of his book, which stars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, and gets in a righteous fight with an asshole that's talking on his phone, and he wraps it up by accidentally picking up on some jailbait, taking her home and screwing her only to have her punch him right as he climaxes. The show's fucking hilarious, though a bit R rated (don't watch this with the neighbor's kids). I love it. Anyone else worship at the throne of Hank Moody? |

David Duchovny does need to be god again, I mean I thought I was gay for watching X-files so many times but Dazamn that guy is a girl whisperer!!
This show is freakin' Awesome!! It's a very basic plot expertly executed. The characters could not be played better by anyone else. I love it. EDIT:Also, the soap-ish aspect of it is negated by the fact that it only runs for 20+ mins. I had to make sure my manhood is still intact. |

I love Californication. Sadly, onodrim and I are a season behind, but it's a great show!

I gotta give this show props also. When it first debuted, I had just gotten satellite tv hooked up and it came with three free months of showtime. I was hooked first episode. The witty dialogue, the way the characters are portrayed, Hank's "I just don't give a fuck" attitude, and of course the sex. I mean a guy fucks the 17 yr old daughter of the guy who is dating his ex-girlfriend.....(all in the first episode!) gold. pure gold only showtime can showcase. This show is different than ones similar to it with the nudity and sex. The show doesn't become about that, and it doesn't use it to cover and patch up bad writing or acting.
Sadly I haven't seen anything past the first season as i didn't keep up the showtime. I think this winter I may have to catch up on the dvd's when my work slow's up. I gotta ask though to those who have seen it. What's the plot line in the second season? I mean I seen how the first ended and I am curious as to how they move foward in season 2.

I watched the first 2 episodes. I was not impressed with the supposed charm he has. No man gets that much pussy without at least going for it. He just wakes up and women want him... uhh no. I know a sex addict, but he's on hyper alert for girls to fuck. I might continue watching it out of boredom, but I don't know...

Ok, I decided to go back to the series and watch the next couple episodes. Then it turned into a few more... and before you knew it, I had watched the whole first season and I was shaking my head at how good it was. Maybe its the fact that Hank is a grumpy writer (like myself) who says and does things that I wish I could do... yet he's so passionate in the sight of his real love. Great stuff.

It's airing here but they have cut it to shreds to make it pass the censorship so I gave up watching it. I am waiting for someone to give me the DVDs.
