The Expendables (2010 film)

The Expendables (2010)

Quote:

"The Expendables is an upcoming 2010 action film directed and written by Sylvester Stallone. Filming began on March 28, 2009 in Brazil, New Orleans and Los Angeles and is expected to be released on April 23, 2010. "The Expendables has a seventy million-dollar budget," says Stallone's co-star Dolph Lundgren,[1] "and it's an old-school, kick-ass action movie where people are fighting with knives and shooting at each other." The film pays a tribute to the blockbuster action films during 1980s and early 90s, as the film include veterans from the decades (such as Stallone himself, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, Arnold Schwarzenegger, etc.).

The story revolves around a team of highly-skilled and dangerous mercenaries known as "The Expendables" led by Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and consisting of, Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Bao Thao (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Hale Ceasar (Terry Crews) and weapons expert, Toll Road (Randy Couture). They are hired by the mysterious Mr. Church to overthrow General Garza (David Zayas), dictator of the island of Corza near Brazil who has caused devastation for over 20 years. Even with the help from an arms dealer, Tool (Mickey Rourke), the challenge won't be as easy as they thought. In their way is crooked CIA agent, Monroe (Eric Roberts), his psychotic bodyguard (Steve Austin), former British expendable (Gary Daniels) and General Garza's personal army."
Oh. My. God. It even has cameo roles for Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. This is going to be the greatest action movie ever created. Possibly even the greatest movie ever created.

KellyC 09-17-2009 05:11 AM

Yes, I heard about this. It has my man Jet Li so I'm looking forward to it. Not having any expectations other than lots of explosion and shooting and perhaps a few stabbed people here and there.

Like the cast ensemble too.

Nikilidstrom 09-17-2009 01:28 PM

Dolph Lungren, Eric Roberts, and Mickey Rourke?!?!? It sounds like a B-movie wet dream! If David Carradine was still alive to star in this, I think my head would explode.

ironpham 09-17-2009 05:22 PM

David Carradine's a good choice, but I would've definitely like to have seen Van Damme in this. Also high on my list is Wesley Snipes and Jackie Chan (since they already have Jet Li in it).

Yeah, I don't plan on the story/plot or whatever to actually be good. But, with a cast like this, the action will definitely be worthwhile. At least I would hope so.

noodle 09-17-2009 05:54 PM

I think I just came a little.

Reese 09-18-2009 12:03 PM

You know it's gonna suck when JCVD turns down a role in it. :)

Actually, as much as I hate to admit it, Stalone is a damn decent writer.

biznatch 09-18-2009 03:08 PM

I'm definitely looking forward to this. Guns, knives, explosions. All you need.

MiSo 09-18-2009 06:59 PM

the cast sounds awesome, budget seems pretty decent. lets hope for a great movie.

Willravel 09-18-2009 07:05 PM

I hope there's a predator.

SSJTWIZTA 09-24-2009 04:05 PM

oh...my...god!

PulpMind 09-25-2009 12:21 AM

Awesome potential for awesomeness! agreed on the want of JCVD, but otherwise, it looks like just about everyone I'd care to see in this kind of movie!

ironpham 09-25-2009 05:57 PM

Hahaha I just read about the reasons why JCVD and Snipes couldn't do this. JCVD said his character did not have enough character development. Are you shitting me? Not enough character development? When has any of his characters had good character development.

And Snipes....shouldn't have committed tax fraud...

huuuh?!
Did you see JCVD? I mean the movie titled JCVD?! That whole movie was nothing but character development! I think that's one thing that sets him apart from a lot of the other actions stars... blah blah blah

Gabbyness 09-26-2009 06:46 AM

SSJT said it best. BA-BOOOOOM.

Raghnar -ITA- 09-27-2009 12:40 AM

ironpham 03-31-2010 12:28 PM

New trailer!

Cynthetiq 03-31-2010 02:09 PM

I must comment that both Stallone and Rourke both have fucked up looking faces after all that surgery.

Still looks like a cool flick.

Nikilidstrom 03-31-2010 02:51 PM

holy shitballs, I CANNOT FREAKIN WAIT!!! What are they gonna do for the next trailer, bring Bruce Lee back from the dead and have him rematch Chuck Norris?

Punk.of.Ages 03-31-2010 08:12 PM

I've been looking forward to this flick for a few months, now...

Awesome is the only fitting word.

noodle 05-05-2010 01:15 PM

I got to see the trailer in the theaters (the ONLY thing I enjoyed about my Kick-Ass experience). I almost came.

This thing looks awesome. :D

Right? If it wasn't for that preview, that would have been a total waste of money...

noodle 05-05-2010 03:55 PM

Absofuckinglutely

KellyC 05-05-2010 08:49 PM

Yesterday I suddenly realize how awesome it would be if Chuck Norris is the bad buy in this movie.

m0rpheus 05-07-2010 03:08 PM

I just saw the trailer before Iron Man 2. I heard the guy behind me yell out "Holy shit, what is this fucking movie???" when they started going through the cast.
I got a funny feeling this one's gonna do well.

Baraka_Guru 05-07-2010 05:33 PM

This is too big to fail.

FuglyStick 08-12-2010 10:31 AM

I'm starting to lose interest in seeing this film.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Stallone doesn't get that the reason the over-the-top, bombastic juvenile action flicks of the eighties are looked upon with fond nostalgia is because we love the ridiculousness of them when they were played with a straight face? I'm afraid that Stallone will give lip-service to the campy adolescent fantasy, but still expect the audience to take it seriously, which is missing the point.

noodle 08-12-2010 10:42 AM

I'm going to see it just for pure entertainment value, with little expectation for it to be more than an amazing conglomeration of all of my favorite action stars (plus Stallone, who I tolerate because he makes wonderful drinking game movies) blowing up shit and killing people.
And hopefully Statham and Li will have scenes without shirts.
Maybe even with motor oil involved.
But not Stallone. Or Lundgren. Yikes. Movie moobs...

Jove 08-13-2010 02:30 AM

I look forward to massive explosions and insane fight sequences.

Jove 08-16-2010 11:36 AM

I would really like the super powerful shotgun that was used in this film. Oh and the action and fight sequences were impressive.

Fire 08-25-2010 11:28 PM

that would be the AA-12 the "special " shell they used is supposed to be in development, cause the army is not really interested in an auto shotgun- an auto mini grenade launcher, that they really want.........

blade02 08-28-2010 03:25 PM

Very over the top, very violent, and very entertaining!

ttfetisher 09-12-2010 09:19 AM

good film. i liked it. theres a couple of guys i didnt recognize. who's the black guy and the bald spanish guy? Also, i thought steven segal would be in too.
