HiJackeD thread. :(

Yeah appears so. But sometimes you can get off topic. As I am about too:

BTW, Asterisks symbolize me being off topic as in another thread. I wasn't quoting anyone but myself. |
I went to see T3 with very, very low expectations. The movie was satisfying, but I will always have a soft spot for the first Terminator which was very clever. That said I did enjoy the battle on the streets, it was exciting and didn't get boring.
Question: In the first movie the point was made that only biological things could go back in time. The terminator was covered in living flesh and that is why he could get across. So how did TX do it? Is liquid metal living? |
OK, I thought T3 was fucking awesome. I really liked the ending alot. I was so glad they didn't supposedly stave off the apocalypse yet AGAIN. Now John has to face his future, and can no longer keep trying to prevent it. I thought it ended perfectly.
I loved this movie. |
SPOILER
Anyone else nearly cry when the T-850 says "We'll meet again." and shoves the secondary power core into the T-X's face? Something about self-sacrifice that just made me feel very sad after the T-850 died. |
Shit, if you think that made you feel anything. T2's lowering of the Terminator into the hot steel made me (mentally) cry. God, the music honored him, his mission was complete, and he did a thumps up before his arm was completely submerged. Ohhhhhhh, I can never feel that way again. But, yeah, I hear ya on the self-sacrifice. Not too many I know willing to sacrifice their life for another's. :(
|
I agree completely that it didn't make you think, but I was definitely in the mood to see something just like that when I went so I thought it was really good. I like how if you think of the stupidest thing to say after something happens in the movie, you have a pretty good chance of guessing what Arnold is going to say. haha.

As for books, I like The Swan Song, and On the Beach. If anybody can suggest any others please do so. I'm also a big fan of this genre and I haven't read anything good lately. |
what didn't you like DAMNATION ALLEY???? or any of the Mel Gibson Mad Max stuff?
|
if you're into games then the Fallout series is the definitive post apocalyptic RPG game :D
anyways it was a satisfying movie, it wasn't as great as the others thats for sure, but it was still a damn fine movie and worth watching |

TERMINATOR 3 - HIT or *HIT
Finally it came.... i'd been waiting for Arnold to return in 12 loooong years! And what happens - its complete sheit! I have no idea what so ever why the critics praised to the sky! (very GRRR) :(
Only good thing about T3 was the new superhot robot. Am I alone on this ? |
I have not seen the movie and was planning on seeing it in the theater.....Due to all the good reviews.....I would also like to hear more complaints if any....IMDB says it was good as well...
|
I really didn't think it was bad at all. I'm not super-familiar with the Terminator mythos, but it was an entertaining movie when taken for what it is. Maybe a few too many funny lines though.
|
Threads beat the socks out of the sugary American "The Day After".
Threads really was quite unforgiving in what it showed as being the likely consequences of a nuclear holocaust. With regards to Post Apocalyptic RPGs, does anyone here remember Aftermath? I'm talking real RPGs here... Mr Mephisto PS - I went to see T3. I enjoyed my popcorn. 'nuf said |

T2 was to Metal Gear Solid as T3 was to Metal Gear Solid 2.
Think about that one for a second, I'm going to go each an apple. |
I think the biggest problem with all of the people who didn't like the movie is that they depended on it as an escape from real life, even if for 2 hours. They expected it to be entirely seperate from the world around us and to have no tie-ins to actual reality. They don't want to be reminded of the real world while watching this movie. That might be okay, if not for the fact that the makers specifically made the humor tie in with everyday life, and what goes on in the world. They tried to make the movie just a movie, and not make it an alternate reality for people to practice their escapism, so the real problem is that those upset with the movie are so because it was just that, a movie.
|
And on a side note, you people felt sad watching some of these movies? Does the term fiction not have any significance anymore? I mean the sheer break from reality should desensitive any feelings at all due to the fact you know it's just actors because it's not possible to be otherwise.
|
To counter: If a "movie", as you say, is just actors in an alternative reality we should not be able to feel any feelings, right? Wrong! If the movie is good enough to make us experience any type of emotion because of its believeableness or simply realness then that movie is not a movie anymore. It becomes a lost story of what could have been. And you, then, become lucky enough to see it and gather you own feelings/thoughts about it. A lost story. It really is. Just because there's the idea of machinery tied in with a human, it doesn't take away from it's "story". Ex: Matrix
I'm sure there are a million more to list but I don't have that kind of time. On a ending note, you seem like the type of person that goes into these "fiction" movies, which 99.9% are excluding ones based on a true story, and always nitpicks the movies for all it's bad points until you are satisfied. If you don't have the type of mind to enjoy the "impossible" then you have no imagination at all. Stay away from fiction, that goes for sci-fi too. |
I agree with the people who thought T3 wasn't that bad. See BREAKDOWN for an example of Mostow's talent for action (come on, tell me that car chase scene wasn't kick ass).
Honestly I'm pissed at James Cameron. Sure I would have liked him to direct it. But it was his own fault he didn't. He was offered the chance to, but when he found out his old producers had bought the rights to the Terminator franchise without telling him he refused. The fuckers massive ego got in the way. |
Eh, I applaud his integrity. He said he felt the story was told. So I believe him; why continue something you don't believe in anymore.
|
^$ and lots of it :D. Still a good movie, any way you slice it, imo.
|
I thought it was a pretty good movie.
It did accomplish one thing: they set it up so the series could possibly continue without Arnold. But I don't think I'd want to see that happen. |
And, oh yeah, Breakdown is a fucking great movie.

I thought the movie was all right. The effects weren't bad. It didn't seem as epic as T2, but it was still pretty good.
|
I reckon T3 was a v.good movie, it had not many action scenes but good plot to back it up, and it also explained parts of T2 which was good
|
It had good action though the script was cheesy as all fuck. Lady terminator was EXTREMELY hot
