After X3 I'm not really in a hurry to see more of the X-Men franchise. It's a shame too, since X2 was so good.
So, no sense in risking watching it early. I'll wait until it's out on DVD probably. I have a friend who watched it and said it was about as good as X3, which is definitely not a compliment.

I don't want to see it outside of the theater the first time.
I know X3 sucked, but I'm going to give this one a proper chance. It seems promising.

Yeah I don't have much of an interest in seeing an unedited work print version of the movie and so I'll be waiting until it comes out in theaters to see it. Although it has received rave reviews from all of my pirate friends.

So far, all the impressions I have heard from the people who have seen it rate it lower than X3. They say it sucks.

Of course it does. Not only are they continuing the trend of rewriting the Marvel universe for the worse, they couldn't even get a decent director or writer. My guess is that it's going to be arduous, awkward, and will ruin the chances of ever seeing another decent Marvel movie that doesn't start with "Iron", if that. X-Men, X2, and X3 were about Wolverine. For an already overrated character, this movie is adding insult to injury at this point.
I'm most disappointed they'll ruin Deadpool, one of my favorite Marvel characters. |

You know, it seems like movie studios just can't help but ruin comic book movies once they get the franchise dollar signs in their eyes. While a different breed of comic book movie, think of the 80s/90s Superman and Batman movies. Started out good, and then they screwed it all up. The same thing is happening now with X-Men. Hopefully it won't happen to Batman or Iron Man, but I can't say I'm hopeful. Who knows what else they'll ruin, and 15 years from now we'll have another "reboot" of various franchises, and again it'll start out good and eventually devolve.

If Hulk is any indication, there's no reason to think it will take 15 years for a reboot. We could get crappy reboots in a matter of a few years.
The trick is taking the movie seriously and knowing the source material. I don't know why that's so complicated. |

I'm happy with the Origins comics, I don't need to watch the movie unless the guys are already watching it.

I just stopped watching it about halfway through. It was so bad. It wasn't Spider-Man 3 bad, but then again, I was only halfway through.

Something to keep in mind is that the leaked version is not the final version. I don't just mean special effects: they also reshot about 10 minutes of material that will be in the final version.
Of course, as one review I read said, let's hope it's the best 10 minutes of cinematic history

I could live with the "placeholder" graphics, but they do something interesting to the viewing experience. They sort of train you to focus on the merits of the plot and the script and the acting instead of the visuals. They also get you to the heart of the visual, allowing you to analyze if it is necessary or not.
Spoiler: First, Sabretooth's method of attack is fucking stupid. I didn't sign up to see some cat-dude. I want to see a big, hulking monster whose mass makes it plausible to exude that much strength. Second, since when can Gambit make shit float? WHAT THE FUCK where they thinking? He charges shit with energy so that they explode. That's what he does. He doesn't climb walls. He doesn't create shock waves. He doesn't leap off a roof to interrupt a fight for the sake of glorious action. He doesn't fucking play poker with Daniel Negraneau. Oh, and one more thing he's not... he's not fucking dead after one scene of lame action. This is super hero exploitation. Third, what the fuck did they do to Deadpool? Deadpool is supposed to be the ugliest motherfucker on the planet, a fucking ninja with his combat skills and he's supposed to have a mask. He is not Ryan fucking Reynolds. He is not fucking Neo, deflecting and cutting bullets in mid-air. More super-hero exploitation. There's a lot more to complain about. Nothing really had a motive. Nothing really had a personality. I suppose people just do shit because they are compelled to. This movie sucked.

The funniest thing is that Spoiler: the opening credits contain what has got to be some of the best storyline available for the character. They sweep his adolescence and fighting in several wars into a few minutes of credits.

I'm most disappointed about Deadpool more than anything else. Unless he's wearing some artificial skin, he's supposed to have cancer growths all over his body. Oh, and a MASK!
One of the best characters in comic book history. Ruined.

If anything, I thought the unfinished CG was simply comedic icing on the cake. I watched this with a few friends and spent the whole time laughing... first at the sub-par storyline and then especially at things like Spoiler: Wolverine running from a cardboard cutout of a helicopter.
Maybe they should release this version as a summer comedy?

Yeah, this blew. Spoiler: I mean, we had not only one, but two overhead shots of Wolverine on his knees, arms spread wide, screaming "NO!" into the sky. I think that shot should be banned by federal law, because it is always, always lame. When Anakin turns into Vader lame.
Do not spend money to see this movie.
