What Disney Movie/Movie Clip are you still fond of?
A rather unique question, I know.
These last few days, I've been listening to a lot of my soundtracks, a large number from Disney movies. Listening to those old songs brought all those classics to mind, and they all played a big part of my childhood. So I was wondering if any of you TFPers have any faves from Disney. :) Please share! And if you find videos like I did, even better! I'll start. The two greatest Disney clips and songs I still adore are "I wanna be like you" from Jungle Book. And "Step in Time" from Mary Poppins. That dance looks like fun! :P |
I adored the DuckTales movie as a boy. It was like someone simplified Indiana Jones for me so that I'd be prepared to enjoy it when I was old enough. Not only that, but all of the things that might be seen as cliches now were really kinda fresh then. It was a good genie movie, a good moral/ethical tale about the responsibility that comes with power, and it was hilarious. Sure it demonized Arabs, but that was before Clinton. It was a simpler time for political correctness.
The whole movie is on Youtube, starting here: |
Duck Tales!
I watched that show a lot when I was a kid. I'm surprised I never watched the movies. I guess I was too busy watching Beauty and the Beast. XD I actually forgot one! And in this case, its the entire movie I LOVE Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Its hilarious! And every song is wonderful. I still watch this movie. Its like a craving. :P One of the best parts is the traveling carnival that Potts joins in on. Seen below, the funny dance. Dick Van Dyke was incredible back then. :) |
I freaking love "I Wanna Be Like You"! Definitely my favorite Disney song.
Followed closely by: You could just tell how much fun Robin Williams must have had doing Genie. The funniest moment from Disney, though, was in Hercules when the two "kids" were trapped under that rock and one of them yelled, "Somebody call IXII!" I thought that was absolutely hilarious. I love Disney movies... |
These aren't specific clips..but intros to shows that I absolutely loved when I was a kid.. this isn't a full list..
|
It's newer I know, but the wife and I have been stuck on the original "Lilo and Stitch" ever since it came out. The Intro song and the "Hawaiian Roller Coaster" songs are still two of my all-time favorites.
Too bad they shattered the franchise with all the really crappy spinoffs, but at least the original remains... |
Disney's Treasure Island from 1950 was their first fully live action film. I couldn't find a clip of my favourite part, Long John Silver saying"shiver my timbers" to his mutinous accomplices.
This clip is from near the start of the film. Silver appears about half way through. |
I've got another Chitty Chitty Bang Bang song to share :)
"Oh the post posh traveling life, the traveling life for me!" Grandpa Potts is awesome. And the two criminal "masterminds" "Start swimming!" "I can't swim!" "Then start drowning!" You know, I've never seen Treasure Island before Oliver. I should hunt it down. Byrnison: Lilo and Stitch! I saw it once when it first came out. It reminded me of E.T., which made me sad. Stitch is so cute. I'll have to watch it again. I don't remember the music. Punk.of.Ages: Yeah! Aladdin! When it first came out, it felt so...I dunno, innovative. The music and drawing was so fresh and different. I like to listen to that soundtrack. :) Especially the movie intro which is on the soundtrack with Robin Williams! He must have had fun, because none of his dialogue feels written, its all spur of the moment, very Robin-esque. :P One Disney movie in particular had a really excellent hired number of singers: Mulan. Holy moly, incredible. I really enjoy that movie too, really funny and good songs. And Eddie Murphy! haha. "now that's what I call mongolian barbeque!" Want proof? Here: I realize I've only posted songs so far. That's just because I'm a music nut. When I think Disney, I think music. Apologies. But please! Share whatever you like! Something from your childhood you still hold dear. :) |

When I was a wee lad, Dick Van Dyke (and Step In Time) made me want to be a chimney sweep.
This is not a falsification. It didn't occur to me that chimney sweeps were not actually as lucky as lucky could be. I have nothing else to add. |
Emp's New Groove always makes me laugh.
My favorite is Kronk's secret agent theme song. |
I grew up on Disney. My favorite movie is probably Fantasia.
|
My favourite Disney show is Duck Tales. Movie would be Aladdin.
|
RIP Disney Renaissance period. :(
|
I really like this one...
... oh wait. ... Disney sucks. |
That isn't a fail. Not at all. It is just a product of industrial process. Get over it.
Watch any cartoons and you will see this being done at some point in a series. If anything it shows how cost effective their animation department was. Here's the real question. How many people noticed the use of these templates prior to see that clip? Not many. The average viewer has no idea. I can't believe I am defending Disney. Speaking of the use of templates, anyone who has seen these two series will know there were many templates used both within the series as well as between the two: This one too... |
Alas, ChittyChitty Bang Bang is not a Disney movie....
As a kid, I really loved this, shown on the Disney tv show-I was in love with Patrick McGoohan. |

Next time, keep it to yourself. I'm so tired of people like you ruining threads. Ass. I wish I could delete your post. |
I love so many, but Duck Tales should be my favorite!
|
Another one for Fantasia. That was such a beautiful, awesome movie. I remember how cool and dark that demon was, on top of his mountain. He called all the souls out of that town nearby. And the mushrooms were pretty cool.
I also liked Aladdin a lot, but the game on SNES was even cooler. Great platformer. I still remember the theme from Spider-man, X-Men and the Batman animated series. And still hum them from time to time; my fave was batman, with Mark Hamill voicing the joker: |
I've always been a fan of the Winnie The Pooh movies. I still am. There are times when I still quote this clip.
|
My favorite Disney movie is Bambi. No contest. I like the whole movie, but I especially like when Thumper is introduced and when Bambi learns to say bird.

PETE'S DRAGON!
I loved this movie as a kid and got it on dvd recently for my kids and we all love it. I liked this song I loved mickey rooney's song "I saw a dragon" and the whole scene in the pub but couldn't find a clip DB |
Pete's Dragon: YES
I wanted to mention it, but was hoping someone else would instead. Didn't want to hog all the choices. :P I really like that movie, its songs are great. |
