Overall, this season is better than last, but it took a bit to get there. Higher highs, and lower lows.

It was interesting that Sookie recognized a similarity between Godric's affinity towards humans and Bill's. Could Bill be Godric 1700 years down the line? Did Godric once love a human woman? |

who knows, the Godric of the show is not the Godric of the book so we have no back story for the "john lennon" of vampires to draw from. Book Godric only liked little boys and tortured and abused them for fun and games before he killed them

To me this was really Jason's episode.
From his reaction to Maxine, to his interest there was a new (albeit dead) waitress at Merlotte's, to chainsawing the cd player, to getting out Sam and Andy from the freezer to playing "God" to his reaction to Sam disappearing and showing back up in a kitchen apron with a strategically placed apron string, I was falling off the couch laughing in every scene he was in. Someone remind me, didnt the Dr say something when she was curing Sookie from MaryAnn's scratches about the poison being harmful in someway to Vamps? I cant remember. LaFayette's line about he and Jesus agreeing to see other people was awesome. The condition of Sookie's house breaks my heart, I hope once all this is settled it will "magically" go back to how it was....but then there is going to be a LOT of clean up going on at Merlotte's too. Cant wait to see what happens with Jessica because of her attacking Maxine. I know Hadley has been cast, but she isnt scheduled to show up yet is she? (Could be Sophies "food" if she does?) all in all this epi really made Jason shine Just as a side note, before it came on, Dave and I were watching an old episode of Criminal Minds that starred Andy, it was weird to watch an hour of him in that and then switch to drunkin "pig" Andy lol

something for me to squee over when I visit the thread. I've never in my life liked blond men, but good god the things I could do to "Eric"

You're not exactly helping the "not like Twilight" argument
I can see the similarities, but True Blood is entertaining and tolerable, despite its many flaws. Twilight is garbage, and nothing more. It's not insignificant that Twilight follows idiotic teenagers while True Blood follows idiotic adults.

And I don't recall Eric having such heavy bags under his eyes in the first season. Really distracting, along with the tomahawk-chopped haircut.
Jason needs a new girlfriend for me to get interested again; that was the "gratuitously good" portion of the show's three-part formula, where tops were optionable.

I'm really no clearer to figuring out how they kill Maryanne. I'm guessing Spoiler: bill is willing to sacrifice sam, but still unclear how it is going to happen.
Bummer there is a two week wait for the last episode

You know, at least when Angel got to be somewhat tiresome as a no-fun having do-gooder on Buffy and Angel, all the other characters would make fun of him for it. Nobody in True Blood seems to get how fucking dull Bill is. I mean Jason spent the season as a brainwashed Christian warrior and has morphed into a zombie killer armed to the teeth. Maryanne is a batshit crazy goddess of chaos. Eric flies now for some reason. Even Godric's clothes are so badass they couldn't be damaged by an explosion. Evan Rachel Wood's queen is like something from John Waters' wet dreams. Pretty much all the other townsfolk are having nonstop orgies. They are all a thousand times more interesting than Bill!
...actually, come to think of it, almost all the original main characters are just boring as fuck. Who cares about Sam at all? Or Tara and her boyfriend-with-the-worst-name-ever? Sookie and Bill have gotten so massively dull that on the street now I'm overhearing people joking about their "Sooooookie!" "Bill!" "Soooooookie!" dialogue. I predict that by season 4 every episode will be people killing each other with mystical chainsaws and drinking blood and having crazy bisexual orgies with utterly no plot.

I like Jessica, her storyline with Hoyt has really been refreshing. I'd watch a show with just them, to be honest.
And the Jason seduction storyline was absolutely awesome. It was a fun way to deal with the fundies. If Eggs dies, the entire season will be totally worth it. |

ugh, Im glad Eggs is gone...though he didnt die like in the book, this will make for an interesting storyline next season if they continue it, it think somehow it will have a profound affect on Jason.
I have a tiny little beef with how they ended the Maryann line, They have made a big point out of portraying the fact that Sam has to have the animal to imprint on before he can change into it (in the books he could just see a picture, but they didnt mention that in the show), so how the heck did he change into the bull? My heart was just breaking for Hoyt and I have no clue what the hell Jessica was up to. Eggs is dead wooohooooo

There was something poetic about MaryAnn's death. It kinda worked. I was worried it would be anticlimactic, but it was certainly visually arresting to see the white bull pierce her heart, only to have it revert to Sam holding her heart.
Regarding your beef (HA!), maybe Bill and Sam had a bull around as part of the plan. The best part of the entire series I've seen so far was Sam with his adopted parents. It was so quiet, painful and honest. |

Blech, what a mess of a season finale. Yes, the shots of Maryann with the bull were beautifully shot. But a whole season of slooooooooooowly getting around to Maryann's "wedding," filled with endless pointless orgies and black eyes, ends justlikethis with the lamest and most predictable switcheroo of all time.
Plus, they totally dropped the whole "Sookie has electric light powers" thing. What was that about? Then, they perfunctorily went about setting up season 3 as if they couldn't leave behind season 2 fast enough. And I really look forward to more dumbass soul-searching from Jason after killing Eggs, a la the second half of season one. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure I just want to watch Jessica and Eric and the Queen fuck with everybody else all the time. They're waaaay more fun than the rest of this show. I'd kill for an episode with 20 lines of dialogue that weren't directly tied to advancing the plot or expository. ...I realize I complain a lot about this show but it is so much more willing to do crazy shit than any other show on tv that I just want it to do it well.
