Russell Brand Resigns From BBC2
Russell Brand has resigned from his Radio 2 show over prank calls he made with Jonathan Ross to the actor Andrew Sachs.
The comic said he took complete responsibility and that due to the strong public reaction, he thought it was only right he stopped doing the show. He said: "I got a bit caught up in the moment and forgot that at the core of the rude comments and silly songs were the real feelings of a beloved and brilliant comic actor". Brand also lent his support to Jonathan Ross saying what he did was "silly but not malicious" and he now hoped "Jonathan and the BBC will endure less forensic wrath". Here's the phone call in question: |
The real shocker is that this was part of a recorded show, and someone allowed it to be broadcast.
I can't get my head round that. |
That wasn't too bad... what did Andrew Sachs have to say about all of this?

Sachs' granddaughter dances with the "Satanic Sluts", and her stage name in Voluptua, and it's "shocking" that someone made sexual comments about her?!? Really?!? I've heard prank calls that were way more offensive than that on radio shows here in the states, and the only time anyone loses their jobs is if there is something racially said.

I still think it's the BBCs fault in the sense that they used it without Sachs' consent. But i have heard far worse. |
I didn't think it was too offensive but I think Russell's apology to Sachs was sincere. He's a comedian, an artist, It's easy just just let improv go too far. That's the whole point of it. It wouldn't be so funny if it'd been re-written and rehearsed 20 times.
