Can someone please link a clip from this show and explain to me how it is funny? Obviously I just don't get it. And I'd really like to "get it" since so many people say it's genius, and a lot of comedians I love have been on the show. I keep watching it sporadically trying desperately to find the funny, but every time I'm left bored and confused.
Please, someone give me the key to this show, 'cause as it stands I view it as a waste of Adult Swim's air time that could just as easily be spent on a good anime movie.

Tim and Eric, Awesome Show is fantastic. I think it's humor lies in it's ability to comment on everything that is pop culture by being absolutely disconnected from it in all it does. It's kinda meta like that. Kinda like how Family Guy is only funny if you know a ton of stuff about pop culture, but as soon as you know all that stuff YOU'RE the fuckin jackass for wasting all your time and being a tool of the system. Except Tim and Eric show is way more disconnected than that.
It's also just a self empowering celebration of crap to the max. Which is awesome.

highdro, it's scatalogical comedy. I don't much care for it either, and I love pop culture comedy. Given that the clock of Adult Swim is up to five minutes off at any time, I think the folks who handle that time slot are pretty much toked up at work.

i really can't understand the family guy reference, since if you get all the references in family guy, the jokes actually make sense and i don't feel like a jackass since i feel more in tuned with the jokes. i can't help but feel completely rejected by your explanations of the 'series'" humor since you really didn't make much sense to me (my sincerest apologize if i misinterpretted ). you kinda said that i'm supposed to feel like a jackass for understanding family guy's pop culture references and that's supposed to be part of the joke. I REEEAAALLLY don't see how that makes ANY sense, but let's say, for arguments' sake that that's the case. In that same universe, couldn't ANYONE who laughs at tim and eric be considered a moron for finding it funny? I mean absolutely no offense by my statements, but what you're saying kinda seems to be the common thread of tim and eric fans. I could TOTALLY dig the inverted disconnected angle, but the problem is, all of their blatantly social commentary sketches are juvenile and obvious at best. I mean, we all know "Cribs" is fucking retarded, we all know it's essentially juvenile and shallow, but to make a sketch that has some rich people acting shallow and spoiled isn't funny in the least bit to me.
I know, at this point, i've come off as BLATANTLY hostile towards the show, and sorta, any of it's fans, and I'd really like to apoligise for that. I know funny things are funny to those than find it funny, I've just become so sick and tired of this show being hailed as the funniest greatness since kaufman. you guys KNOW i mean no offense to you guys who are real fans of this show, I'm just truly TRULY trying to crack this show for my own personaly enjoyment ( i say this because so many comedians whom I consider genius make repeat appearances on this show)

The Family Guy reference I made was specific to jokes on the show itself. The "jackass" comment shouldn't be taken personally and given our differing senses of humor, I'm sure I said it (and other things) that you (and others) will interpret differently than I meant.

Meanwhile... I don't smoke pot, and I find Tim and Eric funny. It's really really stupid. But it's not stupid on accident, and for some reason I find that really funny. It's not the best thing ever, but it's a good contrast to a lot of other unintentional crap or intentional awesomeness.

I don't smoke pot and I think Tim & Eric Awesome Show (Great Job!) is consistently hilarious. A lot of their humor involves magnifying and examining earnest incompetence, often in excruciating detail. Most things on the show are so horribly executed on every level that it, to me, becomes funny (case in point, the wretched ventriloquist who: doesn't seem to be aware that his lips move the same when he or the puppet is talking + his god awful songs + his highly TV unfriendly appearance = laughter). It is understandable that a lot of people see the show as being just incompetent and therefore painful to watch. If you've seen the movie Rushmore think of the high school plays within the movie (Serpico, the Vietnam play), they're so earnestly staged and performed but at the same time so terrible that it becomes a delightful spectacle. I think the humor is similar, that said, I know some pretty bright people who don't find Rushmore funny at all. eh... Humor withers and dies when it needs to be explained. I'm sorry that you don't get it, but please don't excoriate those who do.

In all due respect I'm gonna have to disagree with ya on that one
it's pretty hilarious to me because I realise it's making fun of alot of those old
cop shows we used to watch though I will admit it does have some pretty horrible episodes from time to time

also on that note squid billies is the same way it's pretty hilarious but for every good episode there's like 3 horrible ones as well some good ones (in my oppinion) are the hilbilly hazmat suit episode where Halen is spraying around his new deodorant that melts people's flesh and then there's the one where the squids start a band for church and one of them turn to satan it's pretty good

I didn't like saul of the molemen and I don't like taeasgj either personally it just doesn't really seem funny i mean I chuckle from time to time and such but overall it bombs

the greatest show on adult swim has got to be fat guy stuck in the internet in my oppinion from all it's geek references especially to star wars to the hilariousness of Chase the bounty hunter and his fight between him and his good side it was a great show it makes me sad there hasn't been a season 2 yet
