It appears the episodes are no longer free and are now on iTunes for $2.99. Ouch.

To be fair this was announced from the get go. I can't wait to order the DVD.

That's a good point, Charlatan, and does make some sense. However, my problem is that I really felt blindsided by the weight of the conclusion. I think it's pretty hard to argue that the tone, substance or medium of the series was either particularly serious or particularly dark. It was hyperbolic. It was whimsical. It was fun. Sure, it had some irony and dark elements, but overall, pretty light fare. The ending, however, was a fucking crusher. Except you know, that Spoiler: Bad Horse was really a horse, which had me laughing until NPH said the last line into his webcam and I wanted to cry.

I agree, though, I'd like to see more.

I agree that the end was a bit of blindside... but to me that is the deliciousness of it all. In spite of the whimsical nature of it, it *is* a origin story for a super villain. The pain of the blindside is due not so much to the content of the story but to your expectations of the story. One expects a protagonist to have a happy ending. But Dr. Horrible is more than just an anti-hero... he's a super anti-hero... villain... thing.

His journey lies somewhere south of happily ever after...

Apparently, the DVD will be out "before Christmas." Hopefully they'll reword that to "before September."

*waits ever-so-patiently*

Well, if it helps, Whedon has said multiple times that the DVD will include cast and crew commentary that is entirely sung, from beginning to end. I am way, way too excited for that.

CinnamonGirl 07-28-2008 09:05 AM

Entirely sung commentary? That's awesome!

And so this post isn't entirely too fangirl-ish: Dr. Horrible: An Oral History -- cool article from Entertainment Weekly that I found while looking for updates.

No, not too fangirlish. I read that article days ago :)

According to this article:

The DVD is going to take a little longer just because it’s going to feature new songs in the form of a musical commentary. (They call it “Commentary: The Musical.”)

CinnamonGirl 07-29-2008 07:46 AM

That makes me giggle.

Also, it's available for free again... but with "limited commercial interruption."

Hulu - Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog

w00t!

Edit: The limited commercial interruption was just two... a very short "brought to you by..." at the very beginning, and a 20 second commercial in between Acts 2 & 3. Good deal.

I'd never heard about this until a few days ago. I'm really behind the times.

That being said, I watched all 3 episodes for the first time today, and really enjoyed it all. I was pretty impressed by the music and the singing, and the overall production was very polished and well-done. I'm hoping this is the beginning of something great, but if not, then it still was an enjoyable show.

And I too, like Captain Hammer, hate the homeless. ;)

...ness problem.

I've been walking around singing several of the songs...which is a little irritating, since I don't know all the words (yet.) I can't wait until they release the soundtrack, since my iPod appears to have rather unceremoniously gone kaput.

Seer666 08-06-2008 11:56 AM

I love this. Had songs from it stuck in my head all day though.

Hain 08-15-2008 03:52 PM

This was such a clever show. Light hearted witty humor throughout and singing- I was thoroughly entertained. I show this to everyone that has a decent internet connection.

fucking loved this, this is what our tv should be, and if hollywood wants to fix itself they should be taking notes,,,,,,

My best friend got me the DVD for Christmas... woohoo! I haven't watched "Commentary: The Musical" yet, but did see a few of the applications for the Evil League of Evil. Some are pretty lame... the first one is absolutely hilarious.

Hey ppl, Dr. Horrible is on Hulu for free for the next 10 hours!!!

It's about 45 minutes long, so rather than leaving your cubicle for lunch, just click the link above and have a good time :)

My favorite quote, "...it's not about making money, it's about taking money. Destroying the status quo. Because the status is Not quo. The world is a mess, and I just need to rule it."

Enjoy

Finally watched it last night at a party! Took me long enough -_-
Gosh is it ever awesome. :D Neil has a great voice too, just, wow. My jaw kept dropping.
Then we watched all the extras on the DVD, some of those ELE videos were great! The puppet priest was hilarious, so was the very first one. :)
Now, just the beginning of the Bad Horse Chorus is stuck in my head though, I keep singing it to myself. :P

For those of you who listened to the Musical Commentary, and are wondering, "What on Earth is this "Ninja Ropes" thing they're singing about?"

Here it is: Ninja Ropes Extreme for iPhone

Dr. Horrible on the Emmy Awards:

Cynthetiq 09-21-2009 07:12 AM

Thanks red! If you're NYC you may not have known about this particular screening and Q&A with Joss. I decided to not go when I heard about it as I've got so much on my plate at the moment. I do wish that I had decided to go. It probably will be a fun time.

one of the funniest applicants to the Evil League of Evil

Redlemon 09-21-2009 07:20 AM

Tur-Mohel! Awesome. I meant to look through the applications, but never got around to it. Is there a top-10 list or something?
