Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
Awesome movie! An improvement over the first, which was still a great movie.
http://www.superpouvoir.com/Team/Mar...den-army-2.jpg Ron Perlman was simply awesome again, but Abe Sapien mopped up in this one too. Good, solid acting all around! Some of the effects were mind blowing as well - a big improvement over the first movie. The true genious of these movies is Guillermo del Toro, however - a movie this cheesy and unique was destined to fail, but Guillermo made both movies good. Amazing director. Go see it!!!!!! |
I'm very glad to hear it didn't suck, as I've been really looking forward to it. I don't care if I have to go by myself, I'm not missing this one!

-1 for not casting David Hyde Pierce to do the voice. I thought his performance was better than Doug Jone's, especially the buddy scene with Hellboy.
Everything else is top notch. A dream summer flick. Go watch it and buy the DVD when it comes out. I'll kick your ass if you download it. |
Just got back from it, and it was fan-freaking-tastic.
I didn't miss David Hyde Pierce at all actually, the one problem I had was the kid actor playing little Hellboy at the beginning just didn't do it for me. |
The kid at the beginning didn't do anything for me, either. I'm also tiring of Doug Jones being every creature in del Toro's movies, because you can really tell that it's just Doug Jones in the costumes. He has a very unique movement style, and it really comes across no matter how the costume is designed. The creatures are all unique and wonderful, but wish the movement behind them varied somewhat. The eye in hand monster in PL was a bit jerkier, but they're a signature style, for sure.
That all being said, the movie was everything I wanted it to be and more. It will join its prequel on our DVD shelf as soon as possible. |
Saw it this weekend with th lady. enjoyed the hell out of it. I will say though, I liked the first on better. Del Toro did an amazing job, but I just like the feel of the first one better.

Great movie, ten times better than the first. The first 15 minutes or so were a little hokey, but as soon as Hellboy gets blown out of the window and that song started playing, I was all in. That was genius. And bringing in Goss from Blade 2 was a great idea, he is a great actor and very adept at the physical side of both roles.

Hmmm.... Personally, I thought the movie kind of sucked. I totally thought the first one was better (though, granted, I thought the first one was nothing great, just harmless fluff)....
I thought plot and character development were weak, story was weak, dialogue was bad, it was too light and not dark enough; and overall, Guillermo del Toro directs for the camera, not for the actor. Sure, the visuals were great, but that doesn't do it for me. Even for a fluffy comic book movie, I just thought it was not good. |
