Hancock

I saw this movie today and I am disappointed.

Spoiler alert if you haven't seen it yet..

The movie started out great. There were funny moments and Hancock was an interesting character. However about halfway the movie jumped the shark so to speak. The whole plot line with Charlize Theron should have been eliminated. There wasn't enough background to even care about Hancock and his relationship with her. They should have just focused on him being in prison, the support group, the basketball, and then later his PR stuff with the police, the city, and maybe use the villains from prison and the bank as a climax-- maybe with Justin Bateman's family being kidnapped or something.

Just goes to show: You cannot make a compelling Superman movie. As soon as they introduced the plot twist, I think I even said out loud "Aw fuck, not kryptonite again"

i whole-heartedly agree that this movie could have had a better plot.

It's the deus ex machina conundrum. There are two ways to beat Superman: kryptonite and hurting his friends (Lois). It's a big challenge for writers.

Sure, the plot was weak, but I watched it more as a comedy than a serious movie and found it pretty entertaining. *shrug*

doomsday seemed to kick supermans ass just fine with out any of the two.

I thought the whole "I'm a drunk Superman" thing seemed pretty likely: being alone in the world, never knowing who you are, where you came from, what you were before, and then have the whole world despise you when you do want to help- booze would settle that mind.

First half was entertaining, after that it fell apart. Spoiler: They should have left out Theron being his equal/opposite. This would have been better covered in a sequel, and a full on battle royal between two superhumans, instead of "oh you turn human when near your partner"(bah!) and now you are going to get the hell beat out of you by some escaped prisoners...

The movie was entertaining, but I think everything went way too fast.

Spoiler: "Mary" didn't try awfully hard to hide who she was. I mean, she goes out to meet Hancock in this skimpy outfit looking like a whore, then they fight... What is the point of fighting each other when you can't hurt each other (at that time), destroying the city on top of that.

I agree, the twist was a flop-would have made a good sequel. I really wanted to see more of the prison stuff and to build on who he was and why he was this way and then how he became better and why and stuff. The pace of the movie was off too. I did like it by in large, but it just seemed some parts were rushed when others should have been omitted.

I am interested to see the the special features when it comes out on video.

I enjoyed the movie. but then I went with the expectation that it was a summer fun put your brain in your pocket type film. That is pretty much what it was. don't expect much plot, just a drunk super man and some laughs.
