Constantine (movie)

This may be a bit out of date, but Im just really getting into the comic books - and I wanted to say it was a bloody outrage someone making a movie with Keanu Reeves portraying an AMERICAN Constantine.

I actually enjoyed the film. Despite Keanu, it was still thoroughly entertaining and featured the greatest devil (Peter Stormare) since Al Pacino.

I really enjoyed Tilda Swinton's performance as Gabriel in that movie. She made it worth watching. Keanu, not so much.

I didn't even know it was based on a comic book.

Still, I liked the movie enough to watch it twice.

The movie was great in my opinion.

I remember this story that the creator of the comic book refused the creators of Constantine from calling it Hellblazer because he felt they butchered the character he created. Just a rumor.

The movie was fun, but it wasn't really a John Constantine movie. I felt the whole flavor of the comics was removed from the movie. The low-fi feel of Hellblazer just seemed to be missing, and instead we had holy flamethrowers.

I enjoyed the movie, but it was in a much different character than the comic books (I still have the originals somewhere, probably should find them and read them again ). The anal-stickler in me was put off when they insisted on pronouncing his name "Constanteen" instead of the "Constantyn" (sounds like "mine"), which was addressed in the comic series at one point.

I thought the movie was OK. I am interested in reading the comic book series.

I hated the The Devil's Advocate. Sometimes, Pacino hams it up a bit too much for my taste. In that movie, he was really chewing the scenery. To each their own.

I feel Christopher Walken would make a great Satan.

Also, I liked Constantine, even though I never knew it was comic book related. (Even though i am somewhat into comic books).

Constantine was in Sandman as well (he had a cameo) - if they ever make a Sandman movie (or series of movies) - they put the REAL master of bad luck magic in those!

Keanu didnt suck in the movie to me, but he just visually didnt have the look, a lot of the sppeal of the Constantine to me is his Englishness, which obviously Keanu didnt have... but at the end of the day, the movie character just wasnt as much of a BASTARD.

I mean, Constantine is a humanist on the side of good (most of the time) and all - but the character portrayed by Keanu - I couldnt imagine him beating up the killer of an old girlfriend, dosing him off his tits with LSD, and then locking him up for the night with the mutiliated corpse.

Could you imagine the special features on the DVD of that movie?
