Transamerican Love story
So I'm bored and I flip up from my usual channels on the guide to find something to watch.
I find LOGO, something I haven't heard of, and the show on was Transamerican Love Story. The info says some blurb that makes it clear its another bachelorette type show, but no real details. I think I know whats coming but not sure yet. Then I see the CBSlogo news, which is basically 'gay this gay that' so now I really know where this is going....... And yes, its a trans gendered bachelorette show, where the woman is a man or was a man or something (post op, pre op, no idea, though obvious lip injections and boob job). Anyways this isn't my lifestyle or my (ok apparently one of the dates went to a gay strip club or something, just watching as I type this) thing, its kind of a train wreck in my view but if it makes them happy thats fine, I really don't care. (Ok there is an add for Bears on the Run, this channel could be amusing if you enjoy stereotypes) But I have to wonder, after this what will be the next level of bachelor/bachelorette show? My guess is Threesome, first will be FMF, followed by MFM. And here I thought this style of reality TV was dead.

It is truly a brave new world.
But my god, Ustwo. I'm SO reminded of the time my grandfather accidentally channel-flipped into a Twisted Sister video on MTV, back in the 80's. Just ignore the silly people on that station, grampa. It's not meant for you. Turn back to Matlock. And hey, 60 Minutes is on in a little while, I know how you like Andy Rooney. |

Wow, this is great. It's good to hear that even the transgendered aren't spared such publicized embarrassment. I thought it was a just a heterosexual thing.
It really is just a logical step, I guess. That's entertainment.

Ok this station is hilarious, its so badly over the top about being gay that I'm expecting David Chappelle to show up to tell me it was a skit.
I have to wonder how the gay community views it, my guess is many would think its a bit embarrassing.

The reality TV was less embarrassing by comparison.

ustwo... I had the pleasure of working on the station for the first 2-3 years, 1 year prelaunch and 1-2 year post.
it was an interesting set of production folks that's for sure... even some of my gay friends who worked their thought it over the top.

I recommend reading Joanne Meyerowitz's How Sex Changed: A History of Transsexuality in the United States for more information on how the transgendered have been viewed and treated by American culture.
