Also Must Watch: "Little Shop of Horrors" original movie musical ending
I tripped across this a couple of months ago, and meant to start a thread, but I was just reminded now after seeing the thread Must Watch: I Am Legend's Original Ending.
Sorry about the really wordy title, but if you aren't closely familiar with the series, it was first a B-grade movie in 1960, then a theatre musical in 1982, and finally a movie musical in 1986. I saw the 1960 version once, but don't really remember it. I've seen the 1982 version many times, and love it, especially the ending. I thought the 1986 version was very well done, but I was disappointed in the happy ending. I was very excited to find out that the happy ending wasn't the original ending. Here, in 3 parts (if you want, you can skip to Part 3, because Parts 1 and 2 are quite faithful to the 1986 musical): ...and, well, I'm disappointed again. One of the advantages of the theatre is that not everything can be shown, and your imagination fills in the details. In my opinion, actually showing the worldwide destruction takes away from the impact of the show. I wonder what percentage of their budget was spent on this lost ending.
