Well I actually watched this last night and found it hilarious and solid entertainment.

I wasn't a fan of the original show, but this thread piqued my curiosity, so I watched with the kids and was surprised they got into it, too.

The show is still pretty cheesy but I still catch myself watching it.

As far as the gladiators go, Crush is a bad-ass Muay Thai fighter named Gina Carano.

I couldn't really remember how the old Eliminator went, but watching the clips was illuminating. Having the treadmill and handbike at the beginning when the contenders are still fresh makes the whole thing monumentally easier. Also, I suspect anyone who discounts the difficulty of climbing the wet cargo net has never had to do anything of the sort. It's exhausting work, and when one is having to tackle it after already being out of breath from the swim, it's no wonder that none of them can do the handbike.

I think the eliminator needs to be completely retooled. Personally, I'm not interested in watching someone in the throes of exhaustion fall over ten or fifteen times, and they could make it a whole heck of a lot easier just by rearranging the elements so that the most physically demanding stuff comes first.

As long as they don't bring back the hamster ball thing I'm cool. Soccer mom ripped through the eliminator last night.. she was pretty bad ass. I'm glad she beat that bull rider chick. I got so sick of hearing "I'm just gunna put my horns on and bust through em" uugh.

The only part of the eliminator that annoys me is the lack of penalties and the fact that they actually seem to get more help i.e. the rope on the treadmill.

No, no - it's much better this way so that it is not just a test of raw speed but also of endurance. I enjoy laughing at those who can't finish.

Me too...

But yeah, some of the people on the Eliminator look totally pathetic, especially when compared to the men and women on Ninja Warrior. I wonder if they modify the Eliminator in any way for the women, the way they do the obstacle courses on Ninja Warrior (the women's show, Kunoichi, clearly emphasizes balance and speed over strength). I haven't seen any obvious modifications between the two.

Oh, and I think it's ridiculous that they can just drop off of the log roll or handbike...they should be falling into water. Muahahaha. Ninja Warrior has ruined me forever, I fear.

The problem with this thread is that there's too much talking and not enough animated gifs of Crush (wait for them to load and they'll animate smoothly)

Crush (MMA fighter Gina Carano) is delicious. She'd probably do me some damage in Muay Thai.

I think it's hilarious that she apparently stuffs her mouthguard down her cleavage when not in use. But, y'know, it's not like she has any pockets on her uniform, so points for creativity I guess.

I'm still trying to decide whether it's sexy or emasculating that she could kick my ass without breaking a sweat.

It's clearly both.
