family guy star wars episode
extra freakin hilarious. the only thing i didn't like was obi wan's song went on a bit long.
i thought they did a great job with it. i wonder how much say seth green had in it, seeing as he does robot chicken, and they did a star wars episode... |
whew!!! i forgot all about it! thank god for TIVO!
|
Yea just watched it, I thought it was pretty hilarious.
|
I missed it. When's the rerun and on what channel?
|
Damn I missed it tonight. Maybe Adult Swim will have it within the next few weeks.
|
Wow, this is really high quality stuff. I'm kinda surprised. DVRing it as I watch.
|
Watching it right now...hilarious.
I am pleasantly surprised by how funny it is, and how well-done. Peter's introduction was priceless, and Quagmire/C3PO-Cleveland/R2D2 have had some amazing one-liners. "We're being boarded from the rear, and not in the this-could-be-all-right experimental way." |
I have to admit, this was the first Family Guy episode that I've watched! I laughed my ass off all the way through it. I'll have to start watching regularly now.
|
Definitely a good mix of jokes, although I agree with the extended song, and the couch gag was too prolonged. Can anyone enlighten me about the joke with the man speaking to them when they were in the turret guns? Was it an Airplane gag or something?

I just finished watching it... and as an insanely huge fan of Family Guy, I about died laughing the entire way through.
The extended singing portion, and the extended couch gag... classic Family Guy. I loved every second of it. And it had an awesome sort of MST3K quality about it, with them just stepping out of the moment to crack on what's going on, rather than doing cut-aways... poking fun at what even the biggest Star Wars fans have been puzzling over for years. They also did an incredible job doing shot-for-shot remakes of a lot of scenes, plus the way the graphics were done. A truly beautiful cartoon. Now, sure, this episode isn't for everyone- hell, Family Guy isn't for everyone. Some people don't see humor in doing almost-unbearably-lengthy jokes and cutaways... and they don't really appreciate absurdist humor, which makes up a decent portion of the randomness. But really, it's the criticism about those things that points out exactly why Family Guy is so great- NO tv show is perfect for every demographic and every person's taste... and they don't sacrifice anything in their show to attempt to make it so. They know who they're targeting and who the show is for, and they make the show for those people. I think it's a large reason why so many shows on TV are so incredibly bland and uninteresting... they're trying too hard to pack in something for literally EVERYONE, and end up with a mesh of nonsense that's less entertaining because of it. Some shows say no- every joke is aimed at our target audience (and the target is not set at "everyone"), and we either make a fan or they change the channel. I agree with this- better someone dislikes it and others love it, than it get sterilized for mass consumption and end up like The Simpsons. (That's right, I said it.) |
If you missed it (and in case you don't know how fucking amazing tv-links.co.uk is):
http://www.tv-links.co.uk/listings/2/143 Season 6, Episode 1-Blue Harvest. Enjoy. |
That was great! The best part is the banter about Robot Chicken at the end... Seth Green is one of co-creators of Robot Chicken...
|
I laughed out loud probably 30 times during this episode - this one will go down as one of the best episodes of the entire series

"Great kid, don't get penisy!" I just about fucking died laughing at that one. |
Very sweet episode. Thanks for the link, Frosstbyte.

Apparently Seth McFarlane wants to do Empire and Jedi as well. He'd have to negotiate with Lucasfilm, but seeing as how a) this was a huge success ratings wise and b) it sounds like McFarlane and Lucasfilm really got along quite well making this episode I can't see why it wouldn't go through.
|
ha! yes. this was a great episode! i wasn't expecting this at all. especially that it was 40min instead of 20. it seems like they do 1 good episode per season. too bad it's not this good all the time!

Hmm, I think I seem to be the only guy here who didn't like it that much...
I mean, I smiled a bit, but it was kind of boring to me. |

The Grey Poupon scene with the jawas and the sand crawlers was hilarious.

Damned funny show, though i didn't think hubert was the best choice for obi-wan, i've never been a big fan of how much they have expanded that character, he's not funny for me.
The rest ruled, i want freakin' more! |
