as of now, no the vince death thing isnt over, I know a lot of us were hoping they'd stop it when Sensational Sherry died last week but they didnt.

Details remain very sketchy regarding the tragic news today that Chris Benoit and his family were found dead at their Atlanta area home.

Benoit had been scheduled to appear on a WWE house show on Saturday. Sources tell us Benoit called to first say he would be taking a later flight, and then to say he would not be attending the house show due to a family illness. According to one source, Benoit said both his wife and son were throwing up blood and he needed to stay to take care of them.

At last night's Vengeance pay-per-view, Benoit was replaced in his match by Johnny Nitro.

No other details are available at this time and police are on the scene at the Benoit residence investigating.




there was not one mention of this on any of our local news that we could find....but then it took a few days for the "real" news to catch up when Eddie Guerrero.

Hopefully our 11 oclock news will have something. Usually they are all over "wrestling" stuff since so many of them live here, but thats usually when they've done stupid shit and gotten in trouble

I'm not familiar with who this person is, but it's tragic that they died. I sincerely hope that this wasn't some crazed fan, though I can't think of any other circumstances where this would be less tragic. If someone is responsible, I hope he or she is brought to justice.

Wrestling is on right now. I'd been changing around news stations and no mention but when Vince came on standing in an empty arena and said they had cancelled the show and turned it into a 3 hours Tribute to him. I knew it had to be real. Benoit has been one of my favorite wrestlers for years. It's so sad to hear this. He could out perform any wrestler in the locker room. I don't know what else to say.. I'll miss him greatly.

I always had respect for Benoit..... but if this is true he didn't deserve a tribute or any type of future respect.... Killing your wife and 7 year old son??????? I'm sorry that is something I don't condone for any reason, respect or can find any pity for the man.

I pray God has mercy on the man and that this is not true. I find it fishy.....but so many wrestlers get caught up in the drug lifestyle and the steroids that make people freak in roid rage you just never know.

Since I can't sleep (dentist appt tomorrow) here's what the WWE has to say....some interesting things, most notably the lack of any mention of a "neighbor". Again, this looks like it may be a very interesting story.

And again, if the last sentence is true and they knew something about this person hurting his 7 yr old son and waited until Monday to do anything??? WTF?

That's just so.. Unbelievable. When I heard about his death I automatically assumed carbon monoxide because the thought of murder was just so far out there. Doesn't he have two other kids? I thought I heard mention of David and Megan. Where were/are they? This is just bizarre.

The other two kids, from what I read last nite are in Canada visiting their grandparents.

In all my reading this morning, and now I cant find where it was, it was stated that WWE was informed of the murder/suicide but was asked not to release those details....AND THEY WENT AHEAD WITH THAT SHOW ANYWAY....Im sorry, I am pretty sure this makes me mad.

I know I dont know "what happened", how he snapped and did this or whatever but an innocent child is dead and they proceeded to air all that stuff about what a wonderful man he was.

I am so upset....on many levels. I am really really wanting to hear that they are wrong and its been some horrible bizarre accident or some stranger than fiction accidental death, but if its true WWE spent 3 hours knowingly paying tribute to a child killer

From what I understand is that the decision to go ahead with a memorial was made and it was already near completion when news of the murder/suicide came out. Up untill that time they knew they were all dead obviously, but no info as to how was known at that time. When they found out it was too late. They did pull the tribute information off the website super quick though.

I don't really blame them in that respect, they reacted extremely quickly to do this memorial and by then it was too late. Its a live show.

Well considering the tribute information was up before 6pm my time and was still there at 11 pm....I dont call that pulling it "super quick". What they pulled off really quick the WWE site was all the Vince "death" stories and the information about HIS tribute that was supposed to air last nite.

It was the Atlanta media last nite (I found where my sister had sent me the story that was up after midnite and has since been updated and isnt there anymore) that said WWE officials had been notified of all the details at 4pm (EST) yesterday (they found the bodies at 230 EST) but had asked them to not to release the details at that time.

It's the lifestyle, a life of pain from in ring injuries, arthritis, bad backs, knees, ankles etc.

Also, when you have 1000's making you a hero and cheering you and you can make them love/hate you, every single night, there's an ego thing.

All of a sudden you turn around and your home life is falling apart, you look out and see kids coming up getting the pushes and popularity as you are pushed back, maybe told to job to a few up comers so that they can get some recognition.

Meanwhile the fans who cheered you are starting to fade, your tee shirt and merchandise sales decrease, McMahon is asking you to do things you physically can't but you know you can't say no.

So you pop pain pills and do what it takes. The kids wanting position see this and take advantage of your situation and start getting you to embarass yourself so that they can move into your spot.

A possibility in Benoit's case: he goes home needing peace, find the wife cheating or she starts in yelling about something and he snaps. Then the guilt sets in the son sees mommy, he starts realizing there's no way out sooooo..... I doubt we'll ever know.

I heard about a possible scenario in which Benoit discovered that the wife had killed their son for some reason, accident or not, and Benoit could not contain his fit of anger, ultimately killing his wife for the heinous deed, and in the end, the guilt overwhelmed him as well, and he committed suicide soon after the debacle...

Benoit Murder Details Revealed

TMZ has learned more about the deaths of WWE wrestling superstar Chris Benoit, his wife and son -- and the information is extremely disturbing.

Several Atlanta-based law enforcement sources have told TMZ Benoit may have strangled his wife on Saturday, then smothered his son in his bed a day later. Investigators refuse to officially comment, pending final confirmation by the coroner on the cause and time of the deaths.

One source told TMZ that Benoit was texting friends during Sunday's WWE "Vengeance" Pay-Per-View program -- possibly watching the show with his son, who may have been alive at the time.

According to sources, Benoit then hanged himself Monday in a weight room inside the family home.

A police investigation is ongoing.

This seems to be the new route that the WWE is taking. I believe in their scramble to do something for TV last night (basically to not invoke the wrath of the sponsors expecting a live program), they figured the tribute was a safe route. However between last night and this morning, they've taken all tribute videos off the website, and completely discontinued all of his shopzone gear. Complete disassociation other than the headline on the front page which I assume will be a simple news update.

Even the WMXX DVD has had its main event changed to "HHH defends his title against Shaun Michaels"

EDIT*** In a world where marketing means everything, I've also noticed they changed the photo on the front page of the site from the smiley Benoit to the sinister Benoit. Interesting observation ***

They HAD to acknowledge his death and the trauma of the news probably wouldn't have allowed the wrestlers to perform (I guage that this shock was much different than Guerrero). They probably could have showed a repeat of RAW but by then it was out that he was dead and I bet people would have been suspicious, especially with the turnaround of the Eddie Tribute two years ago. They didn't have a lot of time to work with. I suspect it was a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't. They're not showing it again internationally.

Updates from the press conference (debunks the crap TMZ was posting)

Authorities conducted a press conference this afternoon regarding the deaths of Chris, Nancy, and Daniel Benoit. Here are highlights from the press conference:

# Authorities have ruled the deaths were a result of a murder suicide.

# Test results indicate that Chris Benoit killed his wife Nancy "sometime on Friday" and his son Daniel "sometime on Saturday". Test results show that Chris Benoit killed himself sometime "later on Saturday".

# A bible was found placed next to the bodies of Nancy and Daniel.

# Nancy was found with legs and wrists bound in a family room upstairs. Daniel was found in his bed.

# Chris was found hanging in the weight room in the basement.

# Authorities found "a lot" of prescription drugs at the scene, including anabolic steroids.

# Authorities are aware of only one prior arrest for Chris Benoit, for DUI.

# Scott Ballard, the District Attorney handling the case, said he termed the killings "bizarre" because of the timing of the deaths and that he remained in the house for some period of time after killing Nancy and Daniel.

# Ballard said, "I'm baffled why anybody would kill a 7 year old baby.

# Nancy was bound on her feet and wrists and wrapped in a towel.

# Text messages received by friends were received several hours after they were sent, perhaps explaining reports that messages were sent during the day on Sunday.

I just want to blame the roid rage but I can only blame him for using them. I wish I could just say he wasn't my one of my favorite wrestlers but he had so many GREAT matches. I just can't believe the same person I've seen in the ring, and on documentaries is the same person that'd do this. I've never had a "hero" of mine fall from grace before. How am I supposed to accept this?

Chris Benoit was scheduled to appear at the WWE SmackDown/ ECW live event in Beaumont, Texas

3:30pm
A co-worker received a voice message from Benoit. The message from Benoit stated he missed his flight and over slept and would be late to the WWE Live Event. The co-worker called Benoit back, Benoit confirmed everything he said in his voice message and sounded tired and groggy. Benoit then stated, “I love you”. The co-worker stated that it was “out of context.”

3:42pm
The same co-worker was concerned with Benoit’s tone and demeanor and called Benoit for a second time. Benoit did not answer the call and the co-worker left a message stating “just call me back.”

3:44pm
Benoit called the co-worker back stating he didn’t answer the call because he was on the phone with Delta changing his flight. Benoit stated he had a real stressful day due to Nancy and Daniel being sick with food poisoning. They discussed travel plans for the WWE Tour of Texas with Benoit still sounding groggy at this point according to the co-worker.

4:30pm
A co-worker who consistently travels with Benoit, called Benoit from outside Houston airport and Benoit answered. Benoit told the co-worker that Nancy was throwing up blood and that Daniel was also throwing up. Benoit thought they had food poisoning. Benoit stated he changed his flight and he would be arriving into Houston at 6:30pm. Benoit told the co-worker to drive onto the WWE event.

5:35pm
Benoit called WWE Talent Relations stating that his son was throwing up and that he and Nancy were in the hospital with their son, and that Benoit would be taking a later flight into Houston, landing late, but would make the WWE live event in Beaumont.

6:10pm
A representative of Talent Relations called Benoit. The representative from Talent Relations asked Benoit what time Benoit was getting into Beaumont. Benoit responded he was leaving Atlanta at 9:20pm Eastern time arriving into Houston at 9:24pm Central time. The representative from Talent Relations advised Benoit that it would be too late to make the WWE live event in Beaumont. Benoit apologized citing he had a family emergency. The representative from Talent Relations suggested to Benoit that instead of going to the WWE live event in Beaumont, Benoit should take the flight to Houston, rest up and be ready for the Vengeance Pay-Per-View event.

6:13pm
The representative from Talent Relations called Benoit to reconfirm the travel plans with no answer from Benoit. The representative from Talent Relations left a voice message to take the flight and rest up.

WWE received a call from the Fayetteville County Sheriff’s office, advising that they entered
the house of Benoit and found 3 deceased bodies (a male, a female and a child). The Fayette County Sheriff’s office has secured the house as a “major crime scene” and that the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office had no further information.

District Attorney Scott Ballard said the boy had internal injuries to the throat area, but showed no bruises, indicating he may have been locked in the crook of his father's arm. Previous reports have said the boy had been smothered or strangled.

Nancy Benoit, 43, had bruises on her back and stomach consistent with someone pressing a knee into the small of the back while pulling on a cord around the neck, Ballard said.

Benoit, 40, killed himself by wrapping a cord around his neck that was attached to a weight machine, Ballard said. Benoit released the weights — about 240 pounds — to cause strangulation, he said.

Ballard said the pull-down bar had been removed from the machine. He was found seated against the machine in the basement of his home.
