Yea, with all the recent "EXPOSED" stories about man vs wild and the production team, it's hard to watch it without wondering what was planted, and what he truly stumbles across.
That said, i can't stop watching it! Man vs Wild represents the "best case survival scenario," where all the advice that the experts give you actually work. Slide down the side of an icy mountain with a broken ski pole as your brake/steer! Survivorman is all about "giving advice is one thing, actually doing it for real is another." You feel the same frustration when Les spends hours building traps and doesn't catch any food. Or the shelter he builds during the day does nothing when night hits. Or the realization that you can't drink from a water source because you don't have a vessel to boil it in. Either way, the Science/Discovery Channel is making money from me. |
The distillation trick Les did to make drinking water out of his urine was awesome.
Survivorman really inspired me. When I get the means, I wanna try survival in the wild. (little by little) |
Man vs. Wild is way better. I don't care if Les is "alone." You know he's got some hidden Cliff Bars and a radio / gps device for swift pickup if he ever gets too uncomfortable.
I think they're both great shows, and I'm usually first to call "bogus" on all of the reality shows these days, but I just think that Grills is more hardcore, more entertaining, and a better survivalist. |
