On it's own, I enjoy it quite a bit, but it precedes Battlestar, so there's always that "10 minutes to Battlestar" in the back of my mind. I think Battlestar should be surrounded by meditation.
I would like to just watch it by itself a few times. A few episodes have been entertaining. I was worried when Claudia Black was on last night, but she did quite well. I miss Farscape... |

I watch it! I love the main character, although the way he lets everyone, and I mean *everyone* push him around is annoying. And the lady cop is annoying too. I suspect her character is better in print.
Claudia Black RULES ALL. She's the Heather Locklear of the SciFi Channel.

I watched the first few. It's just too much like Charmed/Angel/Buffy etc to grab me.
It was OK, but not brilliant. I'll not be following it.

Eeehhh...it's OK I guess. As much as there is an obvious attempt to emulate the wink-nudge/fantasy mix of Buffy/Angel, there appears to be utterly no attempt to provide any depth for any character outside of Dresden. Every other character is completely 2-D, there to progress the plot. Joss Whedon's genius wasn't adding two parts magic with one part snark; it was arching plotlines, highly developed characters (including the tertiaty ones), and masterful emotional manipulation.
I'll keep watching Dresden, but I think I'm going to prefer the Buffy Season 8 comic book more. Issue 1 is off to a great start.

The episode that Sci-Fi aired as #8 (Storm Front) was actually the pilot episode chopped down from 2 hours to 1. It has some differences that I wish they would have stuck with, such as much more voice over than the other episodes, which gives it more of a Noir feel. Also Harry used alot more magic in this episode (I mean he is a wizard for crap's sake). Also Murphy was not completely oblivious to the magical elements. The only difference I didn't like was there was no Bob. Also he had a different "office" and his "office" and place of residence were two different locations.

I certainly agree, mrklixx, on all counts.
The thing I always enjoyed about the books (just finished his latest, btw) is that classic noir voiceover. The other episodes are alright in that respect, but #8 laid it on thick and it made it that much more enjoyable to watch. I hope that sci-fi (or who or whatever) lets us see the full 2 hour pilot one of these days.
