An Inconvenient Truth - the Timebomb
Saw this terrific documentary finally, created by Al Gore (as the host) and I have to say that it is the most important movie I have seen in many years. As a documentary on the Earth's climate crisis, I expected to be bored & skeptical. Not so! The scientific data is astounding and the graphics were stunning. What an eye-opener to the the myths and misconceptions that we, the public, have been "fed" over the last twenty years.
Doesn't matter if you are a Democrat or a Republican any more. The data doesn't lie. Sure, Al Gore can be a bit dry...but in this movie he really grabs you with wit, humor and an openess that few may have seen in him before. Global warming is here & real and we must take heed to a "greener" way of life or our kids will be paying the price in unmeasurable ways in 25 - maybe just 10 years. Low carbon or no carbon...

I definitely want to see this movie. I've read articles that say global warming is pure bullshit and that the overall global climate was warmer 500 years ago than it is now, and that it's simply happening again, but these articles are the minority. The only reason I'm skeptical about global warming at all is the fact that when I was in kindergarten and first grade, the teachers were going APESHIT over how we're all gonna burn to a crisp by 2000, and by 2010 the whole earth would be gone. Nothing has really changed in 20 years...at all. It's hard to believe that something is happening when you can't see it or the effect it's having. Hopefully this movie will clear that up.

The land where I live in Sounthern Ohio was covered by glaciers not so long ago from the Ohio River to the North Pole. No doubt it is much warmer now.
There is little doubt that the Earth has had warming and cooling periods many times in the past even before there were humans. I am doubtful that this movie's position that the current trend is mostly our fault is valid. |
