Eragon (Movie)
I finally got around to seeing this show. I was excited to see it after reading the book. I thought the book was a decent book, a bit transparent at times but decent. I didn't have high expectations when I read the book since it was written by a teenager.
Now for the movie. The movie was absolutely horrible. Please save yourself the money and use it to buy the book. To start the movie does not follow the book at all. Almost all of the plot has been changed from the book. In addition, the movie is incredibly rushed. The plot is moving from scene to scene with no explanation of why things are happening. To make things worse the rewritten script is horrible and so is most of the acting the follows. Finally the costumes were also horrible. It is a shame because this movie could have been very good if the director would have followed the book. To bad they didn't have Peter Jackson make this movie. Honestly I haven't been this disappointed in a movie since I saw Dungeons and Dragons. In summary, read the books and avoid the movie. |

Yeah this movie has 12% on rottentomatoes.com which means that it's bad (bad) bad bad bad bad bad bad. I was hoping it would dip into the single digits so my prediction of 9% would be correct. Oh well. And yeah I almost walked out of Dungeons and Dragons.

Further proof, I guess, that Jeremy Irons and John Malkovitch should not do sci-fi/fantasy flics.

I wonder what happened? I listened to the audiobook version, and while it's pretty conventional fantasy, it was written well enough and at least had some energy. Given such straightforward material, how could a movie version go so wrong?
I figured on renting it someday at least, but now I won't bother.

My girlfriend is a 5th grade teacher and she said that her entire class is obsessed with the book. She said the other day, a bunch of them came in complaining about how bad the movie sucked. Man, if 5th graders say it sucks, it SUCKS!!!!

this movie was truly bad- note that i have not read the book, which I understand, if I had, I would have cried tears of blood during the movie.... my friends who have read the book appoligised to me after, mumbling something about finding the director and chaining him down to a bed of broken glass to be trampled by a team of ponies with horrible bowel problems... as a non reader of the book, I summerize the movie as bad wooden acting, a plot that is slow and boring, and well, no emotional content, ie at the end, middle , and beginning you just sort of say, eh, thats it? there is no "rollercoaster" effect, and even the climax leaves you going, eh, well at least there were no beholders in the film...YES, it was almost, and I mean by a hairs breath, as bad as the D and D movie.....sadly......

I happen to like the movie quite well even though my step son said it was very unlike the book. He also enjoyed the movie. I guess its best to not have read the book first, however, he has agreed to let me borrow it.
