Arrested Development
A little background about my TV viewing. I torrent WAY to many shows, but my favorites include The Simpsons, The Office, South Park, 24 and House (and now Dexter).
One goal I have taken upon myself is to convince as many people as possible to watch Arrested Development. This show was the best TV show I have ever seen, and I really truly recommend it to everyone. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367279/ its rated a 9.7/10 with over 7k votes If you haven't watched this show, you haven't watched TV.... well you might have watched TV, but nothing decent. |
One of the few things that generally darkens my days is that there will be no more Arrested Development. It was the most brilliantly crafted show I ever saw and I get more out of it on each viewing.
I have to agree. If you haven't yet checked it out, it rewards watching from the beginning. Find the DVDs and start. Brilliant. |
Having watched AD, I admit it was a great show, but it reminded me of SOAP and as funny as AD was, it wasn't a SOAP (the early years).
In a way I find it always better in the long run to end a series before it gets truly stupid , lives off it's previous glory, becomes a mockery of itself (like SOAP did, like Bosom Buddies did, like MASH, like Taxi, like Welcome Back Kotter, Cosby, Married with Children, Hill Street Blues.... and so on). It can always come back in some fashion as a movie, mini series etc to close out the plot and whatever. A lot to be said with the old show business adage: "leave them wanting more" |
My friends and I still do a variety of Bluth family chicken dances at every appropriate occasion.
Cha-ch-CHAW! Cha-ch-CHAW! |
Koo-koo ka chaaa!! Koo-koo ka chaaa!

It was a wonderful television show and woefully treated by Fox during the third season (well, even some during the second). I don't think I saw half of that final season--yet, as I will order it on DVD from Netflix next year.

I refused to watch AD for a long time because I felt it was overhyped. Last May I got my hands on a CD filled with AVIs from the first season. Boy, am I glad I got over myself - what a brilliant show!
I watched Season 1 and most of Season 2. Just got all 3 seasons on DVD for Xmas so I'm starting over. I think this is my third time watching some of the S1 episodes, and they're still hysterical. |
Amazon has the 3 season box set for $55 on sale (link).
I borrowed the first season from a friend and thought it was great. Very unique, and one of the few shows I genuinely laughed aloud at. I don't buy DVDs, but ideally will be able to watch the second season in the not too distant future. I rarely watch sitcoms, or TV aside from sports, but shows on DVD are neat, as they allow one to weed out the quality and watch the shows straight through. |
going to hit up that box set.
this was a damn good show. Loose Seal!!! |
I've had always known/liked the show, but never really saw too many episodes when the show aired. Even when I did watch it, it was sporadic so I didn't get to really appreciate the show. I bought all 3 seasons last month (Amazon had all for $33) -- can't say I've made a better purchase...ever.

Like most of the greatest shows ever aired on Fox, I could never find out when it was on, and when I could, it was pre-empted for football or midgets vs. an elephant in a plane-pulling contest.
This show got me thinking about the idea of a Direct-to-DVD sitcom. It seems to work for movies, so why not? I would gleefully buy a couple of new episodes of Arrested Development (and Futurama, which I've been hearing rumours about) on DVD every couple of months until the day I died. |

now nobody has an excuse not to watch it (to be clear - free full episodes) |
I just bought the first season. I'm watching it again before buying seasons 2 and 3. It's really a marvelous show. The characters are great and the dialogue is even better.

Next thing I know, I'm running for my life. And all I could think was if something were to ever happen to me, how sad I'd be, you know?

One of the funniest shows I've ever watched. Only Seinfeld comes close to having such well-developed characters.
I watched seasons 1-3 in about a week. I was about 5 episodes into the first season before I jumped on the "bring back Arrested Development" bandwagon. Hopefully it makes a triumphant comeback like Family Guy (whose comeback wasn't exactly triumphant, but that's a subject for another thread). -Tamerlain |
CBC (Canadian Public Broadcaster) shows AD before the evening news. I started watching it and now I'm totally addicted. I absolutely love that character Gob, "come on". I've actually laughed so hard I've lost my breath a few times.
What a classic. |
