New Transformers Trailer
http://video.vividas.com/CDN1/5029_paramount/en/web/
This just raised my low expectations for this movie.

lol did anyone notice the little girl at the end is carrying a My Pretty Pony (also a Hasbro toy from the 80's that was populer from 81-83, before transformers came out in 84)

Ever since I heard Bay was in on this, my expectations have been very, very low. Perhaps it will turn out good.
*EDIT* I watched the trailer. They are going to have to work on some of those graphics to get it believable. Some older car commercials have better "transformer" graphics than that. I really enjoyed the helicopter transformer thing though. If the graphics end up being a smash hit on this movie, it will take it a long way.

Hmmm, I think there are two points this.
First off, this is the first I have heard of this movie. Second, I loved the original series and the original movie. Third, I don't like the new series. Fourth, It looks like if taken as a stand alone movie with no background story or connection to the original series or even the current series it should be a good movie. Fifth, I think since I did like the original I will be less inclined to like this one as it will be a perversion of my old childhood cartoon. Sixth, I have gone on way too long, I was only supposed to have two points to this reply.

I think it's a great idea, but something like this needs really good directing and effects to work. The effects shouldn't be too much of a problem, all they need is money. The directing is where it's going to sell it. They gotta take it seriously. This movie has so much potential. I mean freaking car commercials have the graphics in place already. Point in case: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...ransform&hl=en
That video came out at least a year go, maybe longer. This movie is going to have to have great directing in order to succeed. And if it doesn't, I'm going to be one pissed off Transformers fan.

Hmm. That was a great trailer - for a Verhoevan horror movie. If I had never heard of the toyline or cartoon series, I'd be led to believe this movie was another Starship Troopers, with a parade of victims getting impaled by pointy monsters and aliens.
I certainly don't begrudge them for taking the film in a different direction or focusing on a new generation of fans, rather than mining nostalgic 30 somethings like me for an audience, but I was surprised by the complete lack of character or heart shown in that trailer. Wait and see, I guess.

I played with my Transformers for thousands of hours. They get my $9.00 just to see transformers in live action. If the movie is even remotely compelling, I am more than happy. That being said, the trailer looked great. Can't wait. . .

I saw the preview on the big screen last night. Prime and Bumblebee look more like they are wearing dirt bike helmets...

The effects are going to be the best part. With any luck, there might be an actual story to drive it, but I'm not holding my breath. Bonus points will be scored if they get the same voice actors as were in the original cartoons. I'll go see it, unless I hear nothing but negative reviews after opening weekend.
Yeah, I had a lot of the original toys, but I was... a little rough with them.

True story.. friend at work was stationed at the air force base used in the opening of the movie.. we watched the trailer at work.. he was tickled it gets destroyed.. he did critize on the placement of the armament though heh
( old hippy that he is) well everyone that posts on the TF forums says they look like bugs.. its actually a beefed up robotech/gundam look really.. they have faces but part of the helmet moved down during combat .. prime is supposed to have lips but will have the standard g1 face plate at times. ive seen the vid of prime going flat out on a highway then "jumps" transforms in the air.. was awesome.. 2hrs later it was pulled off the net heh.. they are doing it.. but its gotta sell a toy line also.. i guess

I'm more excited about this than my ten year old son but he is pretty stoked too.
Can anybody remember how cool the original animated movie was with that evil planet thing and stuff.

Well, with Bay directing, my hopes are low. But I'm still going to see it. I've been wanting this for YEARS. Ah well, what is one more dream hopelessly crushed?

I heard about this movie a while ago, but hadn't seen a preview until now. Looks better than I expected. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Why are the majority of people here disappointed Michael Bay is directing? I don't know who he is, which is why I ask. -Tamerlain

New New New Transformers trailer: http://movies.yahoo.com/summer-movie...30/trailers/31
I've upgraded my opinion from "I'm excited" to "this is going to fucking rock whether it sucks or not, because we get to see transformers transform and it makes the sound like it did in the cartoon and it's good graphics"

I will go to a midnight showing on the 3rd if they have one. That new trailer is quite nice looking. Appears that Bumblebee is Jesus in this one. I guess that is alright. Either way - seeing Starscream transform looked freaking great.
I will repeat what I said above - my expectations are to see some Transformer fight scenes. They get my $9.00 just for the fact that they made it. If the story sucks (i.e. they somehow try to insert a love story angle where one really doesn't need to be etc.) I will live with it.

But I forgot to add.. you gotta understand.. pearl harbor was pure fantasy and fiction for michael bay. He will do great on this one. Plus you got SS in the background with a sniper pointing and MB the whole way.. Man no way would he let him mess this up.

I'm sorry to inform you all of TFP that I, Jetstream, grew up on, and still hold fond memories of, the "Beast Wars" transformers.
I had never witnessed the original vehicular Transformers. Terrible shame.
