Peter Boyle has died
The Friends of Eddie Coyle (1973)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070077/ was one of my favorite Peter Boyle movies. I read the book first, in about 1973. Both are good. Peter was also great in 'Young Frankenstein' and 'Taxi Driver'. I understand he was also in some hit TV shows. |
I was very saddened to hear this a little while ago. I re-watched Taxi Driver a week or so ago - his part in that is small but memorable. I saw Young Frankenstein in the theater back in the day - unforgettable. Hardcore - anyone remember that one! Saw that one in the theater, too. He was great in that. I enjoyed watching him in Everybody Loves Raymond occasionally, as well. He was one of the great film personalities.

I was very saddened to see this on the news. He was too young, though I wasn't aware of the conditions he was fighting.
My first memory of him was in Young Frankenstein. It never quite wore off. Keep puttin' it on, Peter... |
I was saddened too. His memorable role for me was his guest role in the X-Files where he was the psychic who could predict other people's death.

We will miss you Peter! Putting on the Ritz...
|
I will always remember him as Jocko Dundee in Johnny Dangerously.
I love that film. |
Holy crap!

Charlatan, YES!! "I'm standin' heer wit my DORK in my hand."
Very good charictor actor, he'll be missed. |
That's exactly the line I was thinking about!
Cheers! |

PUDDIN' ON DA RIIIIIIITZ!!! I liked Peter Boyle a lot. I seem to remember he looked pretty sick there at the end of his run on Raymond, but I didn't know he was as bad off as he was. |
During the third season of "Raymond" Peter dressed as Frankenstein for the Halloween episode. I'm not sure how much of the show's fan base got the reference, but I thought it was hilarious.
According to IMDB.com, he was the only actor who didn't win an Emmy during the run of the show. That's sad because Frank was my favorite character in that show. Peter will be missed very much. |
Personally I'll always think of him as Carl Lazlo in Where the Buffalo Roam opposite Bill Murray's Hunter S Thompson.
