No matter how "classic" any show is, *all* media is a product of its times. The hair styles, the sound quality, the FX, even the tone and subject matter of the story lines will be an indicater of the era in which the show was created. I believe all these attributes should be preserved. So .... fuck the updates. I don't care how well they're done. They are only interesting as a "mash up", but the original unaltered version should always be the norm. What are they going to do when the updates look dated?

But the original series was filmed in 35mm and the masters are still in existance. If you've watched the series in syndication - you're probably watching something that's several generations removed from the originals. I believe the central focus of the "enhancement" is to make HD video from the analog masters. Now, one can argue about the neccessity of enhancing the soundtrack with a new recording or enhancing the effects by removing flaws ... but it seems like they're not trying to "change hairstyles" or add material. Anyway, I'll save my opinion for when I watch it. It might actually be delightful.
