Stargate SG-1 cancelled
This season, the 10th, will be the last for this show. Damnit.

It didn't say why. I mean the ratings are quite good, considering it's on the Sci Fi channel. I think it would be better to simply decrease the budget for a few years and have guest writers from Battlestar come over and fill in the blanks. Cancellation doesn't seem the right decision right now. Sci Fi is at a critical juncture. The ratings are rising, slowly, due to new series like BSG and Eureka. Now would be the time to come out swinging with series that already have large devoted followings like SG1.
At least now we know the Ori storyline will be ending at the end of the season. |

Ten years is huge.
It's better to stop now before the series really goes off the rails. They made a great effort at changing the show when Richard Dean Anderson (and others) left. I was surprised, it was bold of them. But these things can't go on forever. I am sure SiFi just wants to spend it's production money on some new ideas.

It's too bad. I really like this show. I just hope they have ample time to wrap things up, and don't have to shoe-horn everything into just a few episodes.
However, the show doesn't quite have the kick it had in season 8, and at least Atlantis is still going, because it's a better show at this point. Seriously, Rodney McKay might be one of the top 5 characters on TV.

Stargate SG-1 is the longest sci-fi show in history, so I think it's about time that it came to an end. Ya gotta admit that after the Goa'uld and Replicators were defeated at the end of season 8, it kind of went downhill from then, for me at least.

But yeah, its going to be a shame when the series ends, especially if they don't have time to properly finish out the current story arc. SG1 is probably the only show that's been cancelled that I love that I'm not too upset about though. It's had a great run, but it's lost alot of the momentum that made the show great. Would like to see extended for just one more season, finish the current story arc in the middle of it, and spend the rest of the time wrapping up loose ends and stand alone episodes. I just hope they don't try to end the series w/ everyone scattering from the SGC. Maybe just have the final shot be SG1 going on a routine patrol. /end ramblings |

I'm really hoping that they'll pop out a good sequel to the first movie as well video games.
Anyone remember that sega stargate game? That was awesome

It seemed obvious that something was going to give when they started to put all the money into Atlantis.
10 years is a vry very good run though, and they've kept the quality nearly up to the same high level all the way through. Just setting one thing straight though - 10 years may be an american recrd, but over here, we had uninterupted "Doctor Who" for about thirty years, then a hiatus, before it came back last year

This makes me sad.
With the introduction of Ben Browder and Beau Bridges it was like a whole new show, and I really liked the "new" show. I also liked the tie-ins between Atlantis and SG-1. Ah well...guess I better just enjoy this last season...sniffle.

Well, I saw my hair stylist today and told him the news. He was not aware of the story, and he does not believe that it has been cancelled. He is in a band, and the band cannot rehearse or play on Friday nights because he is watching this show. I probably should have kept my mouth shut, but I was sure that he already knew.

I'm surprised there was no talk of the last episode last night.
I thought it was good, but was a little disapointed there was no final conclusion. Though it makes sense how it ended too, since it wasn't the type of show that had a beginning and end. I liked the Asgaurd bit but thought it should have been a bit more of a solemn moment. |

So I know they put Teal'C into a small time dilation bubble so that he could stop Carter from engaging it and open the Hyperspace window etc. The thing that I can't get my head around is why there is not two Teal'Cs. I mean I know that is the whole point of putting him in the bubble, but I still don't get it. There should be two of him, which would be kinda interesting anyway. Also, In 50 years no one thought to just repair the shields? I will miss SG-1. I really enjoyed the show.

I think they were using all the power to stay in that field. Weir will become a recurring character. Think General Hammond.

The shield thing I am less certain of, but I'm guessing it counted as "outside" their time dialation bubble so they couldn't effect it for the same reason they couldn't move the ship out of the way. |
