Tilted Entertainment's Useful Websites.

Since I'm too lazy to keep doing the On DVD this week tread I figured I could at least give this forum some links to to a few helpful movie websites.

Reviews:

www.imdb.com
You probably already know about the Internet Movie Database but it's the best site of it's kind. It's got the cast and crew of almost every movie made with ratings and user reviews. There's user submitted bios of many actors, movie trivia, quotes, goofs, and more.

www.rottentomatoes.com
Rotten Tomatoes summarizes reviews of critics as positive or negative and reports the percentage of positive reviews. Anything with less than 60% positive reviews is considered Rotten and has a little green splatted tomato icon indicating the movie isn't very well liked. Viewing the details of a movie will give you a snippets of reviews from alot of big name critics. You can also see user ratings which are calculated in a seperate rating just in case you're like me and rarely see eye to eye with professional critics.

Trailers:

From fresnelly:
www.apple.com/trailers/
"When I want to see trailers, I go to Apple's Quicktime site. You have to have the latest version of the free player, but there's plenty of content."

www.themoviebox.net
The Movie box is still under construction and it's missing quite a few features but there's a large list of movie trailers to browse through which has multiple formats of the trailer. Also, The main page has a list of this week's dvd releases with a short description and the dvd cover picture. I wish they led to the films IMDB.com page but they instead lead to Amazon.com. That's pretty much all the site is good for at the moment. Hopefully they'll get some news and box office info soon.

Movie Blogs:

www.themovieblog.com
Honestly, This is the only movie site that I visit daily. They post news, rumors, trailers, reviews and pretty much anything else relevent in the movie industry. They also have a weekly audio edition in mp3 format discussing the past week's stories. Since it is a blog, There's a comments sections where you can comment and discuss each article.

www.Filmjunk.com
Film Junk is pretty similar to The Movie Blog. The two sites link to each other often so you aren't likely to miss anything if you only visit one of them. I guess it's about personal preference when choosing which blog, if any to read.

Box Office info:

www.the-numbers.com
I like the numbers because the front page has easy to read box office information. The charts are right in the middle of the page and easy to read. If I want box office info of a film that opened this weekend, I rarely have to go past the first page of this site. They don't always have the information posted fast enough for me though. When that happens I hit up the next site on my list.

www.boxofficemojo.com
Box Office Mojo is my fallback source in case the-numbers.com is down or hasn't updated. They will usually have box office information a little sooner than the numbers but their website is poorly designed(imo.) I like their release schedule that lists dvds and theatrical releases side by side. They have a few reviews but nothing compared to Rotten Tomatoes..

That's all I have for now. Feel free to post any entertainment websites you think are useful. It doesn't have to be about movies. Tv series, Books, whatever is fine also. If it's relevent to Tilted Entertainment, Post it.

Great Ideal Cybermike! Maybe this should be stickied in the forum.

When I want to see trailers, I go to Apple's Quicktime site. You have to have the latest version of the free player, but there's plenty of content.

Woah, what about METACRITIC?

http://www.metacritic.com/

It compiles reviews from hundreds of sources and aggregates the score. Not only movies, but DVD's and games too!

The only place I go when I want to see a good movie.

Great sites everyone. I knew there'd be some sites I missed. If they're not on in my bookmarks I tend to forget about them

I like that Comingsoon.net lists HD DVD release dates.. not that I own a player..

I see very few movies. Sometimes, I want to know what the plot of a movie is, even though I'm never going to get around to seeing it. I like The Movie Spoiler for obtaining plot summaries.

How about The Internet Movie Script Database? I just stumbled upon it recently and really enjoy looking through scripts and screenplays for details and a way to find more out about the movies I love.

I am a big fan of the Cinematic Happenings Under Development webpage. It's got good news about upcoming movies. I also like it because I tend to agree with their reviews. They have a podcast every now and then as well as contests and "daily" items.

I'd suggest TVIV. It's what TVTome used to be like before TV.com took it over and totally ruined it. It's a wiki, so is kept up to date and pretty good. It's still growing, but has most of the current shows you'd think of.

A fine companion site to this one, is http://www.moviepooper.com

Where themoviespoiler.com offers full plot summaries, moviepooper.com offers short, to the point ending spoilers. i.e: The Butler did it.

Check out http://www.movie-list.com/. It often has trailers apple does not show, or at least much earlier then when apple displays them. It also often has red band trailers for R-rated movies.
