25th hour - check it out

Hey guys,

I recently saw 25th Hour the recent Spike Lee film starring Ed Norton. I'm usually not a Spike Lee fan but I really enjoyed this one. Good story (the author of the book wrote the screenplay), good acting, good direction; overall it was a top grade film.

If anyone is looking for a good movie to check out then definitely give it some consideration. I wish I would have caught it in theaters.

Fuck the Sikhs and the Pakistanis bombing down the avenues in decrepit cabs, curry steaming out their pores and stinking up my day. Terrorists in fucking training. Slow the fuck down! Fuck the Chelsea boys with their waxed chests and pumped up biceps. Going down on each other in my parks and on my piers, jingling their dicks on my Channel 35. Fuck the Korean grocers with their pyramids of overpriced fruit and their tulips and roses wrapped in plastic. Ten years in the country, still no speaky English? Fuck the Russians in Brighton Beach. Mobster thugs sitting in cafés, sipping tea in little glasses, sugar cubes between their teeth. Wheelin' and dealin' and schemin'. Go back where you fucking came from! Fuck the black-hatted Chassidim, strolling up and down 47th street in their dirty gabardine with their dandruff. Selling South African apartheid diamonds! Fuck the Wall Street brokers. You're not fooling anybody, sweetheart! Fuck the uptown brothers. They never pass the ball, they don't want to play defense, they take fives steps on every lay-up to the hoop. And then they want to turn around and blame everything on the white man. Slavery ended one hundred and thirty seven years ago. Move the fuck on! Fuck the corrupt cops with their anus violating plungers and their 41 shots, standing behind a blue wall of silence. You betray our trust! Fuck the priests who put their hands down some innocent child's pants. Fuck the church that protects them, delivering us into evil. And while you're at it, fuck JC! He got off easy! Ugh, the mirror scene was the only part of the movie I didn't like. It just seemed goofy. The rest of the movie was great though.

Yes, I realize I'm probably the only one who thinks this.

I thought it was a brilliant film.

Thank you Spike Lee for having the balls to make a movie which didn't patronise the audience or compromise to get a more marketable rating.

At the end, when he flashes through his possible future, it's one of the saddest scenes in a film in recent times that I can remember.

This movie was incredible.
The first thing i said when walking out of the theater was that this movie should be a required film in High School. It was the hardest hitting most realistic "going to jail" movie ever! Even watching OZ and other movies that show how bad it is once IN jail don't seem to compare to the empty pit in your stomach feel that this movie had. REALLY makes you feel for the guy and thank god that you are not in HIS shoes. Amazing. Seems like it would be a great deterent for kids...give them something to think about.

I thought it was a fantastic film. Great story and great acting by Ed Norton. The shots that Spike Lee shot of the World Trade Center is a powerful reminder what happened that awful day.

Shame this movie didn't do better in theaters. There's a reason we're subjected to mindless crap for entertainment: when something real comes out, no one sees it!

This movie was phenomenal. It seemed absolutely real. I walked out of the theater stunned.
