What is the BEST program on Broadcast TV?
MY vote goes for FOX Network's "24". It's the only TV
program I yell at when Jack Bauer needs help and his people can't help him fast enough. (Will get that movie on DVD (The Sentential) when it comes out. Keefer Sutherland is perfect for this role as super slick Anti-Terrorist JACK BAUER and he makes me hope there are real men like him in our C.I.A.,F.B.I.,N.S.A. and all the other ORGs. that are supposed to be doing their jobs in Washington. What regular Broadcast TV show do you vote for? |

I've gotta say the best right now is Grey's Anatomy. Other than the fact that it shoves its themes down your throat sometimes, it's been the one show I've watched that's remained solid through every episode.
It's created a great set of characters, with some you really like, and some you really hate, but they're all interesting. The show's taken its time with developing them, and it isn't afraid to take chances either: instead of just hinting at something like two characters getting together (like some shows do), it actually has it happen. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't, but at least they follow through on it. 24 would have been my answer a couple seasons ago... but it's run its course for me.

Right now for me, I'd say The Office.
I like its deadpan style of satire, and the fine line it walks between humour and drama. The delicacy with which they're progressing Michael and Pam's relationship is fantastic. I love writer driven TV. RIP Arrested Development.

You mean JIM and Pam's relationship, right? Or am I totally missing a subplot here. I'll give my vote to the Office and Grey's Anatomy as well. I've also been a huge West Wing fan for years and I'm really sad to see it go, its been great this season. Prison Break is a weekly addiction of mine as well.

Broadcast consists of the Big 6, ABC/NBC/CBS/WB/UPN/FOX which WB/UPN will be merging in the near future. I'm very much into 24 myself, having been given a hiatus for a bit, I'm very behind so and I have laid them all on to DVD so I'll have to catch up one of these days.

I like NCIS and CSI. The original CSI, not Miami or New York. Although...I will watch CSI Miami just to see how bad David Caruso's acting is this week. It's so bad that it's comedic. Seriously...how does that man get any work?

The only things I watch on broadcast stations are Lost, The Office, and My Name Is Earl.
But for kid's shows, you gotta check out the PBS show Peep and the Big Wide World, narrated by Joan Cusack.

It's the only one I actively look forward to. Even the NCIS 2-part season finale doesn't have me that hooked. And Lost.. I think I just watch that out of habit now The Office and Earl are pretty good, but House is the big one for me. |

Another great example of the deft writing on The Office, was in last week's episode: Dwight goes on a rampage concerning Jim's practical jokes, and the two sit down as the HR guy reads them all off. Each one is more hilarious than the last, so you laugh at uptight-Dwight. But as the list goes on and on, you begin to see how truly pathetic Jim's existence is in the office. Jim realizes it too, and at the end of the scene, he and Dwight have reached some sort of sombre endgame. Phenomenal!

OMG, I can't believe I missed House, that is right up there in my top 3!
I agree, that scene was awesome. Was last weeks episode the season finale? Maybe we should start an office thread.

This week is the Office's finale.
I'd say start a thread, but I don't know if it's worth it until next season is closer. Maybe I'll PM you with my thoughts after it airs

I'm completely crazy about Grey's Anatomy. I just love that show. Love it. Season Finale next Sunday and Monday, and I am depressed.
I also enjoy Boston Legal and House, and Bones, actually. I still watch Charmed (shut up, I know it's cheesy), but it will be gone soon.

If I was a drinking man, I'd make a game of shots when he poses. Every time he poses with his sunglasses on, take a shot. Every time he poses and takes his sunglasses off, take two shots. And every time he poses with his shades on, and his hands cocked on his hips with his jacket open, well...you're probably passed out by then.... Is that how these drinking games usually ends?

Ditto, I've caught all episodes/seasons of the Sopranos on network TV (CTV). My other votes go for 24, the British "the Office" Grey's anatomy, for Grey's anatomy of course. I also like the quirky Dead Like Me on Showcase, the original CSI (the blue show) but like the Shatner-esq style of acting that Caruso brings to the Orange show (miami). speaking of over acting, I caught one episode of Boston Legal, where Shatner shot a guy in the court room. What great show.

Veronica Mars. Hands down.
When you include all TV, you have to think The Shield, Battlestar Galactica, Deadwood... but definitely Veronica Mars.
