On DVD Tues. March 14th: A History of Violence and Good night, and Goodluck.
A History of Violence
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399146/ Extras: Deleted Scenes, US version vs international version featurette, and Commentary. Good night, and Good luck http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0433383/ Extras: Commentary with Clooney and Heslov. It was a slow but good week. A History of Violence's William Hurt was nominated for Best Supporting Actor but lost to 'Goodnight's' George Clooney. I thought Hurt was the better actor, although Goodnight was actually better in my opinion :) I thought Good Night and Good Luck was really good but I'm a little biased because I've always been interested in Senator McCarthy and the government's fear that everyone that didn't agree with them was a communist. I didn't like A History of Violence as much as I thought I would. Although, like I said before I did like William Hurt's small role in the movie.. Maria Bello's nude flash :) The extra feature showing the difference between the US and international version is pretty good... |
I thought Ed Harris should have gotten a nod for best supporting actor for History. He is always good, but I thought he really carried off the malevolence well in the movie.

history of violence was borrrrring! and i havent seen the other one.

I've seen both, but if I were to see either again, it would be Good Night, and Good Luck.
Hubby and I both really disliked A History of Violence. The script was cheesy, the acting was average, and the story was just meh. Neither of us understood the hype surrounding this movie, and I certainly don't understand William Hurt's Oscar nomination. Ed Harris did a better job than he did, IMO. |
I have yet to see both, but want to see both as soon as I can, regardless of the less than favourable opinions the readership here seems to be doling out.
