Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor)
Saw this movie last night, and I thought it rocked. It was subtitled, but I don't mind them so it didn't bother me a bit. The story was very interesting and there were a few loops thrown in there, but the story had some weak points, especially towards the end.
It is the first chapter of a trilogy, so I assume that there will be more explanations in the second movie. Apparently the second movie, called Day Watch, has been made and was already released in Russia. Sadly, Fox is going to be producing the third movie. There were vampires in the movie, but it wasn't really a vampire movie. It almost felt arbitrary that they were even vampires. Which was fine by me though, since the whole vampire theme has been trampled to death by Hollywood. Overall I enjoyed the movie, especially since it wasn't made in Hollywood. I'm just sad that Fox got their grubby little fingers on it and are going to produce the third movie.

It has taken way too long for this movie to get here. It was out in theaters in Moscow when I was there over a year and a half ago. I can't wait to see it. I would've seen it while I was in Russia, but I don't speak Russian well enough to see a totally untranslated version. Glad it's as good as it looks.

Yeah I loved the movie. I'm glad I went to see it, and I can't wait until part two gets to the States.

I imported this about 6 months ago, when it first could be bought from overseas, and I LOVED it. Great story, great visuals, just awesome. Looking forward to pick up the new one Day Watch, which can be bought in PAL format currently, but in a few weeks hopefully on NTSC.
peace. v.

I can't wait for this. It's still in limited release and it'll be eons before I get it way up in the arctic. I heard of this movie last year and I'm still waiting!
So they subtitled it. I remember the talk was to dub it, but I never heard what they did. Also heard this is the largest grossing movie in Russian history? Either way, I'll have a ticket when it shows up. Hopefully, at this rate, the theatre has wheelchair access.
