My Art

(not safe for work)

This is all my own art and all are drawn on a normal peice of computer paper. I havent gotten around to really pushing my artistic ability and see how well I could draw if I tried on a larger peice of paper taking more time. This first peice IS safe for work, its just brad pitts face. The rest are nude women or semi nude.

These three I drew for a friend, and Ill be drawing more. I dont always just drew nude women.

You're quite good! I'd practice hair a bit more. Your shading is well done. The photshopped one is excellent-I also have used PS to finish off drawings. It adds an extra element, for sure.

These are really good!

You definitely have a lot of skill. If this is you not "really pushing your artistic ability" I'd love to see what you can do when you test your limits.

I love your shading and contrast in all the pics. The PSed one is quite nice, too. The proportions mostly work well but look a little wierd in a couple pics. BP's glasses look abnormally tiny and the waist in the second nude looks kinda thin. But maybe that's how both these things really do look. Still, nice.

The waist was definately very skinny, because well.. its hard to find pictures of girls online that arent annorexic and arent in pornography.

the glasses, ill check the original picture and see.

very fine indeed, JC. If constructive critisism is what you are after, I'll tell you the same thing I have heard quite a few times, which is push your darks and your contrast. The tonal range could be expanded and that would help round out your work nicely.

I agree with Kramus, but also I find that there's something too angular about the women. That's ok on men but you have to have some softer curves on women to show their roundness. The shading has been done in parts in an angular way also, maybe you should practice shading in a circular motion to get you into the habit of not marking lines into your shading. You draw very well, keep practicing. Also, the better your materials, the better the final result.

Our hearts are incommunicable still.
In what we show ourselves we are ignored.
The abyss from soul to soul cannot be bridged
By any skill of thought or trick of seeming.
Unto our very selves we are abridged

We are our dreams of ourselves, souls by gleams,
And each to each other dreams of others' dreams.

Push those lights and darks, push them farther than you think they need to go. If you don't have them, go to an art store and get some 2B, 4B and 6B pencils, they are very soft and will push those darks. Try to avoid the standard #2 (equivilent to a 2H) for the bulk of the work.

By the way, nothing is a more "classic" subject than the female nude. Never feel ashamed to draw one.

I like them all. However, the third pic of the female body is a little out of whack, if you ask me. Just a little too thin.
