Dob's Ill art
Been away drawing on illustrator for weeks. Sorry for not participating for ages. This is the sort of stuff I'm doing.
http://img70.exs.cx/img70/8733/lampforphotoshop7dx.png Let me know whatcha think. :) |
The same, but photoshopped a wee bit
http://img70.exs.cx/img70/8339/lampf...ithblur9pq.png Which is best? |
I prefer the fuzziness of the second one. I think it makes it look more realistic.
|
Cheers, Spindles. Its from a photo. Here's the link:

That is damn impressive for Illustrator if you ask me, and I prefer the first one. I really need to open up that program; I have forgotten everything about it because I basically only use Photoshop for everything, even logos and such other things where vector would be necessary, I simply don’t enjoy using it. I really like your lava lamp though, the reflections are impressive and it looked 3d at first glance, your use of the gradient is really nice too.
|
I like the first one best. Great job on the metalic base.
|
Thank you guys. Done a bit more to it, now. http://img125.exs.cx/img125/1184/lam...moreselect.png

Looks good dobster!
|
DAMN!!! i've been using Illustrator for 10 years (that's hard for me to believe) and i'm no where near you're level of realism. in fact, i've never even tried. i just stick with the basic flat colors. nice work, dob. can't wait to see what's next.
|
Thank you all again!! (missed it in here...sigh...) :)
|
Quite impressive. What input tools do you use?
|
oh no, don't get technical!! Uhm, a mouse? Sorry dude, i'm an amateur, really, is that what you meant?
|
Yeah, that's what I meant. Some people use light pens and drawing tablets. The fact that you use a mouse makes it that much more impressive. I also use a mouse for my illustrator stuff. I should post some of my stuff. If my free host is still alive I'll do that.
|
your artwork doesn't look much different than the photograph!
good job, ace. |
'hank you Bernadette and Mister Coaster. Phew! All this encouragement!
|
Dobster!
That lava lamp is amazing! You must show me how you did the gold-like effect! |

I'd definately help you with that effect. It's dead easy if you like doing the detailed stuff. |
Beauty job dobster. Well worth your time. I envy the skill.

When I looked at the pic before reading, I thought you just took a photo. I like the second a bit better, I think.
I am impressed to death. |

Not too shabby. I would suggest working on the color and light in the wall and floor. The lamp itself is very cohesive but the rest makes me want to look away after a quick view. A dramatic and darker wall color might keep the viewers attention on the lamp more. Good work though!

That's really nice! I've only been working in illustrator for a few months, but I'm really liking what you're doing and it's inspired me to get back into it! (I've been doing Photoshop exclusively for the past month)
|
it's well done and everything, but it's not as impressive as the cassette player, being that it doesn't take as much attention to detail, and precision, but it's good, don't get me wrong
