Knotwork Panel

Taking a break from the work, the geekery, and - let's be honest - staring fixedly for hours at porn. The linework was done by hand (laid it out on a grid, drew it, then inked the lines), then I did colors and additional tweaking with the Gimp. Had to do some major contortions to squeeze it into the upload limit for the forum, but that's okay. I'll put the full-sized version on my site gallery, as soon as I get that working

Update: A little fine-tuning and I got a better copy within the upload limit

Crazy

That must have taken some patience. I like the outer border most of all. If I'm not mistaken, the inner light blue knot is one continuous loop - very neat.

A little patience, but nothing too outrageous. Thanks

wow that must've taken you hours to make!

neat design but why does it look so pixelated?

Well, a little bit of the graininess is deliberate. I decided to just do a casual cleanup of artifacts from the scan (eraser marks, coffee stains, etc.) to enhance the idea of the picture being hand-done and maybe a little aged. That explains the white bits.

Then I ran a filter to sharpen things, which reduced the pixellated effect. Throw a canvas filter on to make it look like it was done on a canvas. Kinda neat.

For my final trick, I shrank the image and reduced the color count so that it would fit within the upload limits for the forum, kinda making all the previous work look like I had taken a nice picture and drooled all over it for an hour and a half ;-)
