some people dont understand, with art there isnt Good or Bad its all Good its just your version of art, in other words its like saying you making a ham sandwich out of the same stuff I made a ham sandwich out of and saying mines good and yours is bad..its just not true. Your art looks great kind of like the Terminateriss

I was just hoping if somebody could give me a critique, instead of just a good or bad comment. Sorry, I didn't word that right. Here's something I did in High School a few years back. It's done in watercolor. I neglected the left hand though.

Finally someone else who does water colors as well! You seem to master the art of mixing colors and making shadows. I like the way you've made the lines in the pants by keeping the space open instead of adding white color to it afterwards!

But what's up with the left arm? I see details in the right one but not in the left one?

can I persuade you to post some more of your water color paintings? You see I'm curious to see more of your techniques :)

Drawing: Love the smooth lines and shadows! But how come she's got one bad eye and indifferent eyebrows? I see that the right side of her jaw is slighty crooked as well. The crooked jaw is the only thing that "bothers" me in this drawing :)

Desario 11-29-2004 04:41 AM

Thank you for the comments, Nancy. I neglected the left hand because I probably was rushed to finish it to turn it in. But the left arm, is supposed to be broken. I've only done watercolor painting when I had access to them in High School, so if I could find some more stuff, I'll definately post it up.

The bad eye shows she's half dead. When people die, they're eyes get sort of "filmy" and lose color. So I was trying to show that in the drawing. As for the jaw, the thick line that comes down to her bottom lip, is her hair. As to why it's crooked, I don't know. I honestly don't remember what I was thinking when I drew her face.

Half-dead huh? cool :)
But as the color starts to dissappear does the pupil get filmy like that as well? Doesn't it stay black?

exizldelfuego 11-29-2004 11:26 AM

Love the watercolor. Definitely get us some more!

GoldenOuroboros 11-29-2004 02:46 PM

Great artwork Desario, if you want to show that she's half dead, perhaps a few more indicators would be good.

I don't think it's the iris that loses it's colour, rather that it's the liquid contained in the eye that goes cloudy.

Desario 11-30-2004 01:04 AM

I knew something loses its color, but I wasn't 100% sure what it was in the eye. Unfortunately, I couldn't find another watercolor, but I did manage to find another pencil sketch.

Here it is:

Again, comments are appreciated.

v good understanding of ligt dark shading, i'd like to see some background shading as well - get rid of the outline in the left hand side. It looks like it was drawn from a picture, I think you could really do justice to a live model

Nancy 11-30-2004 01:51 AM

VERY nice!

Is it just me or is the shadow on top of the nose a bit much to the left?

Desario 11-30-2004 12:52 PM

The scanner didn't scan too good. There was some really light shading in the middle of her nose which didn't quite show up.

Thanks for the feedback.
