Im a newbie to Photo Impact and Jasc Photo Shop and have some questions about each of them.

Does anyone know of a forum that answers these questions?

Yeah, ditto. I was asked to do an eval of Jasc's Paint Shop Pro and the final conclusion I came back with was, "Thank God I have Photoshop."

If you don't want to pay the arm and the leg for Photoshop, you might want to try Photoshop Elements. That only costs an arm.

I'm not sure of any public forums, but I'm sure people here would be happy to give tips. What are you trying to do?

Well nothing specific.. I just have questions on how to add certain effects that are avaliable in Jasc and PhotoImpact in Photoshop CS.

Also using light effects and getting them to work.

(Creating a solid black background and adding a lighting effect shinning on the floor. Ive had a hard time trying to do this with the other two programs and Im curious if CS has the same effect and is easier to do this with)

Here's what I'd do to get that effect:
First off, making a pure black background and then trying to get the lighting effect to show up won't work.

1. So on your layer that you're drawing on, fill it with a gray color, like 128, 128, 128.
2. On the menu bar at the top, go to Filter > Render > Lighting Effects...
3. In the dialogue box that appears, you can adjust the direction, style, color, and a bunch of other things until you get the lighting effect you're looking for.

That's it!
